Ummm...good question. I wear so much Zucca I should know this but I don't...even the manufacturer's website wasn't too clear. Apparantly Akira Onozuka (OnoZUCCA) started Zucca in 89 but then opened Cabane de Zucca in 95/96 to allow him more "freedom". I think he wanted to start including menswear and accessories, and if I'm not mistaken Cabane de Zucca started with those rubber wristwatches shaped like animals.But now there are boutiques both for Zucca and Cabane de Zucca so I'm not sure whats what. There's also Zucca Travail, which includes work-pants and lots of canvas.
The designer has a very interesting background; even after his Paris collection debut, he opened an international uniform design company. He has also advised, produced, and directed theme parks and events.
Oh and yes, he did used to work for Issey. His line is still produced by the same company as Issey and Tsumori.
