Carmen has been named MDC's #7 icon :woot:

Carmen Kass New York:
Women Model Management

(SS/06: Michael Kors, D Squared) There is a feeling that fashion will always need and that is the ideal of an obscenely rich, ultra-sexy, super-woman pulsing with an almost dismissive beauty. Nobody gives that feeling better than Ms Kass and for that reason she remains one of the most bankable faces (and bodies) in the business right now. Just ask the raft of clients who continue to sign her on as being vital to their brands.

That'd be so great if you could! Have these ads been in Vogue or somewhere? I haven't seen them ANYWHERE.

I'm gonna translate an interview, that i found from an Estonian magazine. It's from February or something. But it's pretty interesting.

Where do you live and what do you do, these days?

Carmen: There's no certain place. I spend a lot of my time in Germany, but mostly I travel because of my work, because there's still a demand for me.

I'm not a very public person, because I don't have much to say. I am not going to go around and tell people that I did this campaign and this editorial. It's ordinary work. If someone makes a rumour up about me, then I guess that's all people really know about me.

Actually, I don't have a home in the US anymore. I have an apartment there, but usually i stay in hotels.

But just a few years ago you moved to LA?

I was in LA for two years. I went there to concentrate on acting, because you can't really do that in New York. I went to an acting school in NY for a year. This was a slow period for me as a model, but I after I finished the acting school, I started getting work again. It was impossible to divide yourself between auditions and modelling work. I hoped that LA was far enough for me not to accept all modelling work I was being offered, guess it really wasnt (laughs)

LA is like a circus. Like Disneyland. I don't like the style there, although the weather is great, and if you want to relax, there's no place other than LA.

What do you mean by Disneyland?

Nothings real. Nothing revolves around real emotions and people. It's all about the fame, money and image. It's never attraced to me, although it's part of my job description. I've never been interested in becoming a star. I want to do my job well. I've never had any role models and I dont want to be one either.

Did you meet a lot of people in LA who wanted to hang on to your fame?

There were some C-listers, but frankly my name's not big enough. Bigger stars have bigger names to hang on to.

But isn't Carmen Kass a big name then?

Perhaps in the fashion world, although I was watching Fashion TV the other day and according to them I'm a new face from Lithuania. I haven't done anything for the people in Hollywood. I could stretch my name a bit, I guess, get a publicist and go to all the major events, but then again I haven't been connected to acting scene a lot.

So you couldn't concentrate on acting in LA?

I had too much work as a model and I had to be 'out of town' a lot. I wanted to do the work I was offered. When Vogue comes calling, I am not going to say: ''NO! I have to go an audition!''. That would probably be the end of me. I went to a few auditions, I also took acting lessons.

I didn't want to be the 'pretty girl'. I like strong roles, but it's a tremendous risk for the producers to give 'em to me. Besides, I have an accent, which also takes a lot of work. I've kinda ruined my speaking manner. I used to speak Estonian perfectly, now I have an accent, then came Italian, French and in the end I can't speak a single language without an accent.

Have you decided to call it quits as an actress?

I don't think I want to become an actress anymore. If someone offers me something, I'll definitley consider it. But I am not going to work for it. I like acting, but not the superficial atmosphere of Hollywood. I can't suck up, it's not my thing. In Hollywood you always have to play the game, that everything's nice, happy.

There's a myth that you can only score a role in a film by sleeping with the director.

That's a myth. Thats what a lot of people tell about everything. To get a job as a personal shopper at Barney's you have to sleep with someone and so on.. I don't know, if your purpose is to get a role, or because, that people like each other. If they do, then I guess sleeping with someone is the logical next thing to do. It's natural to take care of someone and spoil them if you love them and give them better roles. But in spite of that, you still need talent.
