My First Vogue Casting
Caroline Trentini
1. What did you wear? Did you have a uniform you wore to castings?
I did have a few planned outfits for castings. I kept it simple and easy; I didn’t even put heels on because I was already very tall. I just put on something comfortable because I thought I’d rather show who I really am than dress up too much or wear something that didn’t feel natural.
2. Do you remember anything out of the ordinary about that day?
I was very shy, and the office really impressed me. I’m never late for anything, and that day I was extra careful, so I arrived on time. In two of the Polaroids, I’m wearing a necklace, which belonged to my boyfriend, who became my husband a few years later. I wore it as a good luck charm!
3. Did you prepare for it in any special way?
I was very busy with castings at the time, so I didn’t really do anything special. No facials, no extra sleep, just lots of work!
4. How have you changed since then and what have you learned?
I have to say that I’m still in awe of the Vogue offices every time I go in for a fitting before a shoot, with all its amazing clothes and people working nonstop. I’ve learned so much about this industry and the people I work with. I’m not as shy anymore, and I have great memories with so many people at Vogue!
5. What advice do you have for models attending castings? Tips on how they should wear their clothes, hair, what do people notice?
It may seem cliché, but be yourself. It’s very important to show who you really are—people value that. Let your natural beauty and style shine, and always be on time!
