It does look cheap... especially considering that she's actually a recognized model, and that they've essentially pared her down to the accepted blond hair, fake tan, traditional red bikini look. And why can they not have decent, interesting models of a wider range of ethnic backgrounds?
Yes, I was complaining about this last night to my brother... I'm also now getting to pick the next half-topless model as a wall decoration. Objectification is one thing, but at least do it tastefully.

They should have given the cover to some other model. Carolyn Murphy is not a swimsuit model in any way shape or form-- and no amount of cleavage or red swimsuits will change that. Yuck-- what a total mismatch between what's promised and what's given!

I just saw Carolyn on Entertainment Tonight and she was actually in tears over getting the cover (I am assuming they were tears of joy). I did notice something odd with her face- it looked really weird. I usually think she looks great, but in the interview she looked so awful that it left me feeling a bit disturbed. Being a surfer/fan of surfing, she probably loves the SI cover and I must agree that they should have left in the tattoo.
