I've been noticing a lot of what I can only refer to as cartoonish tendencies in some collections. Not necessarily the childlike theme but more of a darker take featuring those strong bright colors we see in cartoons. The colors and the caricatures are there yet I feel like there's a darker underlying theme bubbling. More in the lines of 'Who framed Roger Rabbit' and parts of the Batman series. It's very playful yet adultlike and brings lots of fun to the dark season. I have a feeling a lot of it has been inspired by the previous seasons Prada and Givenchy collections. Especially this last Prada collection. It's the way I imagine the styling would look like in a film based on a cartoon or comic book.
Parts of it I've seen in previous threads, like the collar thread and the Cruella deVille look.
Here are some examples of what I mean. (All images are from style.com
I got serious Catwoman/Selina Kyle (think Michelle Pfeiffer in Burtons catwoman) vibes from Givenchy's collection.
