Meet the Model: Cassi @ IMG/Work Agency
We bond over junk food and Guy Sebastian.
Cassi first made a name for herself on the fifth season of Australia's Next Top Model. The then 16-year-old ended up placing second. She also has a magical face and legs for days. She came in for a casting and I tried to bond with her about junk food and Guy Sebastian. I think it worked.
Emily Royal: Hey Cassi! What agency are you with?
Cassi: Work in Australia and IMG overseas.
Are you modeling full time at the moment?
Me and my partner take it in turns to work because we have a one-year-old!
And are you guys married?
Engaged.
How old were you when you first started modeling?
Ooh, well, I originally started modeling when I was five or six, but got out of it after the first year — mum wanted me to focus on school and stuff. Then as soon as I turned 15 my mum bought me a modeling/deportment class, and then went in and did Top Model at 16.
Cool — how long ago was that now?
I'm 20 now, so that was four years ago.
Wow it's been a while. That was such a fun season, it was very entertaining.
Yeah they only played what they wanted to. A thousand hours of footage for every hour of the show. [Laughs].
I can imagine. You've done so well since, and you did so well on the show so whatever.
[Laughs].
Did you take time off from modeling after the show?
No, I got straight into it. I did have some time off after I had my son, but I'm back into work now.
What do you reckon your favourite ever job has been?
I don't really have a favourite! Actually, recently I did a shoot with Byron Spencer. I was in the water, and just I loved the part where Rachel [Rutt] swum underneath me. That was the funniest most random moment. It was awesome.
We love Byron! Was he awesome to work with?
So awesome.
What's your favourite song at the moment?
Favourite artist at the moment is Bruno Mars. Don't really have a favourite song. I'm also getting into Guy Sebastian's 'Battle Scars'.
Oh my god, such a good song.
I didn't really like him at the start, but now that all of his contracts have finished and he's doing his own music, I really like it.
Where abouts are you living in Melbourne?
About 45 minutes out of the city in the western suburbs.
I'm from around there. What do you think about Melbourne vs. Sydney? Would you move here?
I'd love to move to Sydney but my family's in Melbourne. I love the Sydney beaches and everything, but I love the Melbourne clubs and lifestyle, and the food, so I'm kind of torn.
Me too. What's your favourite place to go out in Melbourne?
I haven't really gone out much since I've been 18 because I was pregnant a year after, and the year before that I was allergic to alcohol! So I didn't really get a chance to go out and see much. I love Max Brenner, the chocolate shop. That's the best. Apart from that, I can't really pick a place.
Personally I love a McDonalds drive-through session. That's pretty much my deal at the moment.
Maccas, chocolate, pancakes! [Laughs].
