Cassi Van Den Dungen shot by Will Davidson for Vogue Australia's April 2013 issue
Fresh from her first international show season, Cassi Van Den Dungen debuts in Vogue this month with a 16-page editorial buzzing with a hive’s worth of honey bees. Here, the dazzling 20-year-old brunette talks modelling, Miu Miu and Microfoliant.
You feature in Vogue Australia’s fashion story “The sweetest thing” this month. How was that day for you?
Will Davidson is one of my favourite photographers; I have worked with him a few times now. He makes me feel so comfortable. The crew were amazing. I loved how beautiful and feminine the garments were. My favourite piece was the Alexander McQueen lemon dress from the opening spread. It was a really magical shoot.
And you’ve just walked for Miu Miu in your first international show season.
Walking for Miu Miu was incredible. I loved the collection, the styling, the music, the hair and the make-up, and all the luxurious fur and fabrics that Miuccia Prada used. The group of girls in the show was also great. It was amazing to be part of such a highly regarded show and walk with the new faces of the season.
What essential items did you pack for the trip?
I packed my iPad so I could Skype with home. It was super cold in London and Paris so I packed a couple of Morrison coats, an Eska Alikai leather top, and my must-have items for winter: a black turtleneck and tights. For castings I always had my patent black pointed heels.
What beauty products do you use to keep your skin looking fresh?
Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant and the Skin Smoothing Cream.
What did you love most about Paris?
I missed my boys [fiancé Brad and 18-month-old son Drake], but I loved being in Paris. It really is a magical city, especially at night with all the beautiful lights. It was snowing when I was there and I had never seen snow before. My Paris highlights included visiting the Eiffel Tower, lunch at L’Avenue, and shopping at Bon Marché. I loved walking around the streets and soaking in the Parisian culture, and visiting the ateliers of the French designers was a dream come true.
