Daniel "Moda" Rivera about dressing Diddy-Dirty Money & Cassie
Saturday Night Live...15 people to dress...celebrity city at 30 Rock!
So for those of you who watched Saturday Night Live (SNL) tonight, you definitely saw Diddy and Dirty Money performing. Add Robert DeNiro to the list as host, Cassie, Robin Williams in the hallway making everyone laugh, Ben Stiller clocking in at a whopping 5' 6.5" and you will have a funny outcome. Prep started for this job in L.A. with the stylist I work for who dresses a TON of big celebs. We had to dress the band which was like 6-7 people, the talent which was Puff, Dawn and Kalina of Dirty Money and 3 dancers. It's a lot of people to dress for live TV because they actually do the show once as a rehearsal with a full audience, and then the real thing at 11:30-1 am, like usually scheduled...but we were there at 4 PM after shopping all day with Cass...yeah I can call her that :-) Earlier in the day, the stylist and I went shopping with Cassie, Diddies girl (remember that song "Me and you"?) and we all had lunch at Philippe, right across from Barneys. So after 40 minutes in Barneys with her, we found the right outfit for her...$10,000 later..."Just put it in my AMEX." LOL After that we spent a few cab rides with her, she was tagging along, and shopped for the band and Puff in SoHo. Never actually shopped with a celebrity before but she was mad cool, plus she's from Connecticut like me.
We dressed her and Puff for the Don Diva party tonight which is straight hood, but I mean Puff is Harlemish and I think from there (check your Wiki) so it all worked out good. We went to Bad Boy too just to get some pieces from there. Plus, you don't get a lot of time with them since they are rehearsing with the live band, so you gotta work it when you got 'em. I of course was there until 2 am packing up the goods, but had a driver bring me home and the stuff back to our hotel. I worked from 9:30 AM...well more like 11 AM until 2 AM. Unreal, but I don't go home until the job is over. And that is why I am always working. I mean, it feels ****ty to turn down Spanish Vogue and Bloomingdales again but it is good that I'm working.
The wardrobe was crazy, so YouTube it. I had to get jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz...$1,224,000 of it...yes that is a million 224k I said. And if you don't know who she is, you better ask somebody. Pharell actually shouts her out in the song, "Mr. Me Too," with The Clipse..."Liberachi fingers ****** hit Lorraine up!" I mean, there were more carats than Bugs Bunny could ever imagine. Ice was shining like Antartica up in that b*tch. And the wardrobe was from McQueen staples, to $7,500 Ostrich jackets by Calvin Klein.
Diddies stuff was just straight crack, which in ghetto terms means, the bomb. McQueen, Tom Ford pieces, Gucci, Burberry and more. I had worked with him and Dirty Money last year and they were mad cool...the girls even remembered me and loved me of course...who doesn't?!?!
