Catherine called herself a Bogan in a light-hearted manner, nobody is saying that she actually is one.

I myself come from Logan, and when asked where I'm from I say that I'm a "Bogan from Logan" not because I actually am one, but because I'm making fun of myself for coming from such a bad area.

Because of Catherine's remark Logan Mayor, Pam Parker, doesn't think Catherine would be a suitable candidate for a "Logan isn't full of white trash" type campaign, because, well, like most people Catherine herself (pressumeably) thinks that Logan isn't that cultured.

The council has lined up local celebs, like pop star Darren Hayes and Olympian Steven Bradbury, to star in a $300,000 advertising blitz.

But the mayor doesn’t want to include supermodel Catherine McNeil, who once called herself the “Bogan from Logan”.

Makes sense. Can’t have someone like McNeil dragging down the local image:


Nobody would want to visit the area with her around. Much better to highlight Hayes and Bradbury.

this **** is crazy, excuse my ignorance but why the hell are these people under attack? could someone please explain to me the whole bogan thing.

I'm not sure how many of you are actually from Australia and been to Logan (where Cat is from) but my older sister grew up there....Let's just say that it's not the best place in Australia. It has a really bad reputation and lives up to it. Cat would have to be the best thing that ever came out of there.

I used to hate her when she first came out, now I love her. Such a great face. Although she seems to get a bit puffy in the face sometimes.

I like Cat MCNeila lot! She's got such a pretty face and she does some really good posing. Really very nice.
However, I have to agree with risska that Cat's probably the best thing to come from there fashion-wise.
