WITH her career on fire and a boyfriend she's head over heels for, it's no surprise Catherine McNeil is beaming.

The New York-based model, who in the past two years has revived her catwalk career and again become one of our most in-demand faces, arrived in Sydney last week with her partner Miles Langford. Looking understated and chic in a black shaggy coat and oversized tortoiseshell shades, the 24-year-old beauty and former lesbian left Bondi's Icebergs Dining Room and Bar hand-in-hand with the handsome British model who stole her heart more than a year ago.

In town to shoot for Vogue Australia and appear at the launch of her new campaign for Aussie brand Kookai, we hear McNeil is also set to visit her home town of Logan with Langford to introduce him to her family.

The couple will then head back to New York.

Article and image from first Daily Telegraph article a couple posts back. :)

Mayan Cat
Comeback queen Catherine McNeil is in Australia at the moment, to unveil Kookai Australia's new Spring/Summer 2013/2014 campaign at a runway show in Sydney on Tuesday 20th August (which Kookai will be streaming live)

According to News Ltd, which owns the Vogue Australia license, she will also spend time shooting for Vogue during this trip.

McNeil has been photographed out and about in Sydney with her boyfriend, British model Miles Langford and according to Kookai, the duo also planned to squeeze in a visit to see McNeil's family back in Logan, Queensland.

This summer, McNeil takes over a one year contract as the face of the local incarnation of the 19 year-old French high street brand, co-starring alongside Dutch model Marloes Horst

A couple of teaser images of McNeil have been released over the past fortnight, but here is a first look at the broader Kookai Australia campaign that was shot by James Meakin in and around Tulum, Mexico, an ancient Mayan fortress city that's famous for its spectacular clifftop ruins.

Sadly the latter don't feature anywhere in the campaign, however the pictures are pretty.

The collection itself references the vibrant colours of the Mexican culture and specifically, in the prints, the Aztecs - even if that's a totally separate ancient Mexican civilization, which post-dated the Mayan empire by some 500 years.

Styling is by Kookai Australia creative director and co-owner Danielle Vagner. Makeup by Sandra Cooke. Hair by Daniel Martin.

Hoping the finger tats are just temporary or drawn on while playing with the little boy in the pic??

Hoping the finger tats are just temporary or drawn on while playing with the little boy in the pic??

haha I'm afraid not  though I kind of like the fingers actually. There's an article accompanying her i-D editorial where she says she should stop getting them, that her agency isn't so happy but as long as they're hidden then she doesn't think it matters.

of course it's her body, but I wish she'd at least refrain temporarily while she's at such an exciting and important point in her career. I guess she thinks, well I'm doing fine enough with the thirty I have so what's one more going to matter...

hopefully her tattoos don't stop her from fulfilling her potential. and clients won't one day turn around and go... ok that's one too many, they're distracting now.

I'm not saying models shouldn't have tattoos and I do like quite a few of Cat's. after all the industry does value girls with a bit of personality/individuality. in fact I'm sure her tattoos have endeared her to many clients, they're a great talking point at castings, make her stand out etc. and she clearly doesn't have to worry about being labeled boring or vanilla.

but as a model she has to strike a balance between being true to herself, being an individual and being a blank canvas for the industry to project onto. she has to fit all these different looks and aesthetics, not just tattooed rebel girl.

Did anyone else see the picture on instagram of her ring and caption "we're getting married b*tches"?

I really like her J.Crew catalogue pictures, thank you for posting them. People said in this and other threads early in her career that she didn't have much expression - well she's proved them wrong.

And I actually want to buy some of the pieces she's modelling, so, she's doing her job well!

Congratulations and best wishes to Cat and Miles on their engagement. :)

well as long as she recreates this fabulously elegant updo from my favourite issue of Queensland Brides!
