That said, she was never really a stylish person - in the days before she left the UK for America, she was always appearing on worst-dressed lists for wearing monstrosities made of lace (and too much make-up).

What she is, is a great beauty - so she looks fantastic in classically glamorous styles which act to enhance that, or simple clothes which follow the line of her body and allow her looks to shine out.

Even as she ages, she'll always have that lovely shape to her face, and she's got a dancer's body, so she'll probably always be a beauty - but she's never been one for displaying trends or establishing herself as a style leader. And she probably figures - given her face, her fame and her fortune - she doesn't have to. I suppose she's in semi-retirement these days.

But I do find myself wishing that we could see her in a great dress more often.
