Celine F/W 2024.25 Paris

Loved the sleeker look and the individual pieces still looked cohesive with the current offerings in the shop as shown above.

I do wish there was more edge/coolness to the styling and the video presentation. At times I was getting hints of Wang for Balenciaga and that is never good. Also, I can't shake this mental image from all the shots of spinning monuments

did they mix in the haute couture to show how pedestrian they look?

That black dress with the flowers look like somethin youll find at a halloween display of ace hardware. The detail shots arent doing the couture any good.

Bigger than FENDI ? Show me the numbers
Fendi is not performing that well. Kim Jones has been a flop. People at LVMH thought Fendi was going to reach the same level of success of his Dior, but it didn’t. I don’t think he will last more than two years from now.

If I were a girl I’d love to buy Céline. It’s one of the few houses that is not vulgar. Chanel, Hermès, Dior, Balenciaga, Gucci, Fendi… Those houses are next level cheap atm.

Seems that one of my favorite looks he didn't even design, which is the patent jacket with leopard inserts.
Hedi will be like Karl - in that he will stay at Celine prob until he retires or passes.
While I love this collection, I really hope not. His references are always so limited. I don't think he has the range.

While I agree with you on most of these houses re-their level of cheapness, I honestly think Hermes is a victim of their clients and not of the product offerings. Their RTWs are timeless (boring sure). Same can be said about most of their merchandise lineup. We mostly associate Hermes with tacky wannabes and their Birkins/Kellys, but also forget about the chic customers who have been shopping there for years, if not decades.

Re this Celine collection, great styling, great products, great images. And Hedi did introduce new shapes so the existent client will have to shop (instead of re-style their old pieces from the other collections).

I really think they should give Fendi men and women to Michele and Silvia. I don’t think Silvia is that strong as a menswear designer..

For some time, the consensus was to think that Jones had Fendi womenswear and Dior menswear as a test to have a full house. This is the proof that he couldn’t even restore Givenchy.

You can get original 60s haute couture pieces for less than these reproductions will cost (and with more quality of fabrics, construction and details...plus, they are the original ones!!).
That's true, but 60s haute couture pieces are 60 yo now, and unless they had the proper conservation (restoration, anti-parasites, micro-vacuuming, anoxia, hygrometry, etc etc), they sometimes only hang by a thread, or the fabrics are deformed.
Our museums consider textiles more fragile that drawings on paper.

Not sure about this, maybe the ones chasing their holy grail bags. But those who actually wear Chanel, Hermes, Dior RTW regularly are mostly not the types who would kill and cry for a bag appointment.

Unfortunately Balenciaga is still king of street style. Fendi is just there waiting for Gucci to reach their flop.

no shade but which looks are couture, to me everything looks like very well made rtw
Couture are probably those which are too complicated to mass-produce, especially the embroideries and the feathers... they probably never intended to produce them on a RTW scale so they just called it "couture", if they have clients willing to pay 40 to 50k a look, they'll take the order though.

The separates are beautiful, but the true stars are the dresses. That's the kind of dresses Hedi should do imo - architectural, "tailored", not those wrapped messes he did at SL.

Edit- That was a good explanation, yslforever.

Yes, I know about it. There are still some treasures that can be found from vintage shops. But of course, it is not for everyday wear...

An example: 1960s Givenchy Couture Silk Organza Blue Sheath Cocktail Dress For Sale at 1stDibs | givenchy 1960, givenchy cream sheath dress with capelet

And this great coat need some little repairs, but it is great considering its age:

At this point I’m just happy he left the indie groupie look behind and decided to give us something that is actually beautiful to look at.

The hats on almost every single look was excessive, and the looks were too literal to the point it became tired after a while, the saving grace being that Heidi has impeccable eye for construction and details. I love the boots and the quality of everything (but quality is expected from Heidi).
Overall its super sleek and pretty good considering what he’s been churning out for the past few years, it just missed a little edge to it.
