Celine's Paris Store Vandalized by Graffiti Artist

Well, he had done it with hermes and kenzo before, right?

btw, i agree with seamnoir

I don't have a particular opinion on grafitti, but how did he got away with that? I mean if you look at the width of each leather is pretty thick, and unless he did with a bucket of paint that must take a lot to spray in one night.

He probably mixed the paint and poured it in a fire extinguisher. There are many videos where he uses the fire extinguisher and sprays the paint on the walls and its a very quick and easy way to get on the walls.

Ahh I didn't know that.
Did the security camara recorded anything?

It's not the first timeit's happened either,
The Hermes flagship store in Paris got graffitied by Kidult earlier this year

i say they wear it as a badge of honor. phoebe philo taps something in that punk spirit. and although she subverts it so deeply in her clothes, it certainly lends some cred to the work she's doing.

I just checked out his blog. This guy is sick and obsessed with himself.
Activism is good, but not in this kind of way.
Some months ago he also damaged Kenzo store building with the same pink color paint:

Graffiti can certainly be art, it can entertain, and it can send an important message to people, but a lot of the time, it's just a dick-measuring competition being played out on the walls and surfaces around cities.

I just checked out his blog too,
His talking about anti-advertising etc. but isn't what he's doing just self-advertisement anyway?

I love Banksy's work, personally. Some graffiti is quite lovely.

What this guy does is less aesthetically pleasing. I suppose the brands he targets can afford to clean it up. Eh. I don't feel it is *that* big of a deal. No one is hurt. And, in a way, it does complement the skate culture (oddly) implied in the Celine ads. I mean, what were they thinking putting skateboards with Celine in those ads; they hardly mix.

I like skate culture.
I like Celine.

But they seem very different.

I agree, some graffiti is really nice I like free expression in street art, but something about this is just annoying to me.
But I do agree, the pink for Celine was perfect!

And I do like skate culture also so the mix for me was exciting!

I am a huge fan of the house of Celine. I guess I stand alone, but I think it's pretty rad. He got his message across, didn't he? I think our generation lacks passion, especially when it comes to activism.

I'm not saying that I agree with the way he chose to express himself or attempting to vindicate his crime, but he's probably opposed to the fashion industry stealing underground street culture, appropriating it (i.e. swagger jacking), and then shamelessly marketing it as exclusive (read: luxe pricing) to mass audiences.

I totally agree, though, I also don't love Kidult. . .

I am obsessed with Celine, but having Daria pose with the skateboard was really stupid. At the very least, she should have been riding it.

Ugh. . . "swagger jacking" is sooo fashion.

Artist? Nothing more than a vandal making a name for oneself.
