"When they offered me to work as a model in Tokyo for 45 days, I was pretty excited."

"Everybody here is extremely friendly. Yesterday I did a shoot for a Japanese magazine and the people on the set treated me like I was some big Popstar. Constantly asking me if I'm okay, protecting me from the bright sun with an umbrella, waving with a hand-held fan to keep me cool and they stayed by my side with a cool glass of water. It was like a tennismatch."

"I walk into a restaurant and seat myself at the table. Before I knew it, a little lady approaches me. She asks me what I would like to eat in Japanese. For two minutes long I was trying to explain with hand gestures that I wanted a mix of sushi and sashimi. The only understandable thing that Japanese people could say to me is: "You model? Picture?", and then: flash! Before I know it, I'm standing there as a tall person next to a little guy on the picture."

"When I arrived here, I wondered: why do I hardly or basically never see any large(fat) Japanese people? Living in NYC made me being used to seeing a street full of large people. But here in Tokyo, I haven't even been able to spot one. Everybody here looks slim and healthy."

Cesar Casier's 4th column in the Elle Belgium September 2010 issue.

Quotes from his column:

"I'm always away from home. In two years, I've spend most of my time in NYC, but I can't call it home. Home for me is the small, familiar and homy... Gent."

"I love laying in the sun on the beach... Too bad that's no longer possible. As a model I'm not allowed to get too tanned."

"Another thing that may not be absent in my ideal summer is... a festival. Even though I'm not a big fan of the massive events, mud, beer or rockmusic, there is not one summer where Ceesie will live through a summer without a wild festival. My personal favorite: Pukkelpop, the only place where you will ever see me drink a beer."

"I get the feeling that everybody looks a lot happier in the summer... It's unfair: women have a wider of variaty choice of clothing to choose from then us men."

"Here is my conclusion for all the ELLE-reading men out there!:
1. The perfect short comes above the knee. If needed, roll them a bit up, that way it will look better.
2. Combine with a simple T-shirt, marcel or oversized tanktop with a nice hat.
3. And for footwear; nice sneakers, loafers or espadrilles.
4. Make sure your legs aren't too pale/white. You will see that it won't look as bad at all.

Cesar has his own column in Elle Belgium Magazine. This is his first one (June 2010) and it's in dutch. Unfortunately, I only understand bits and pieces. But I believe most of the stuff he writes about is also on his personal blog.

There is more!

Another thing, while looking for Cesar's column I found a video/interview of him done by Elle Belgium. It is about his model life and you get to follow him, casting agent Nathalie Joos and brand manager Michael Arts. I never seen this video before, but after watching it, it does give me a better understanding of how certain things work/go in the Fashion industry.

- My love for mexican food has grown tremendously since I moved to New York.
- Personally, I'm not a bruch person. Just give me my daily green tea, yoghurt with papaya and other fresh fruit and a big glass of coconut water.
- Chinatown is dirty, it smells and its full with screaming Chinese people, but the fruit, the fish and the vegetables are top quality and most importanly, cheap.
- I get the feeling that more New Yorkers eat and live a lot healthier these days.​
