Chadwick Tyler - Photographer

Muller and Tyler may have a similar grunge appeal, but I doubt Chadwick would ever make any attempt as to do a "completely copy" of the work of another artist. As with many art forms inspiration is drawn from everything, and with both photogs giving a grungy yet beautiful feel I can see how they could be compared. Chadwicks work also gives a much more vunlerable, innocent feel, with a slight boyish charm in many cases. Where Muller is much more masucline, sexual, and almost darker than Tylers playfully dirty work.

Look at this the one on the left was taken by Chad Muller two years before the one on the right by Chadwick- almost too similar? interesting.....

While the wardrobe is slightly similar - and I say only slightly because upon close inspection, the wardrobe really is very different...I highly doubt that the second shot was inspired by the first at all.

So many garments look similar and so many photographers have similar styles and aesthetics that it is only natural to sometimes have two shots which are very similar. Honestly, the only similarities between these two shots are the stockings and the fur coat. Both items are pretty common to see in photos, and I'm sure that we could find a dozen additional images that look similar too.

Both photographers do lovely work.

everybody seems to love his work, but since 2 years that the topic has started, what his work have been exactly? new faces test, new faces test, new face test, new faces test...

Dang! You know what? I've seen several photograps of the same Gareth Pugh dress... copycats all of 'em photographers.

I think there are some photograpers that are amazing all-round, but still has a signature thing. Take Sølve, he can do lots of different things but he has a signature. And then there are those photographers with a specific look, a signature style in makeup, styling and colors. Chadwick is one of the second group. Therefore, he gets booked for the jobs that requires his outlook, it's only natural. Look at it this way: Chadwick Tyler is to fashion photography what Rick Owens is to fashion design.

Bytheway, -lots- of new sets up at his site, more varied too. *drools*

I see your point ... but when we say "work" in this business we don't necessarily mean paid work. "Work" refers to his enitre "body of work" ... in other words, all of his photos. So ... tests with new faces is still his considered his work.

The goal, of course, is to get paying clients ... and maybe he does have some ... it's difficult to determine that. Often, in the beginning, the paying clients usually do not want the photographer to do anything creative or interesting (often it's just boring catalog work), so often they will not even use the photos in their portfolios. The will only list them as clients in their resumes.

I understand.
and i know aproximatively how it works, hence why in his case for me it seems he is stuck to the step where he is.
for exemple, as he makes many new faces test, some agencies sometimes order bigger jobs to photographers (paolo Roversi for one just now, but i also think about a young women photographer who had shooted all girls for the show cards of women last season...) i mean even such kind of deal he seems even not to get them:(

He has done editorials for example for Plastique, and he (as you mention) have shot the entire (I belive) Supreme Showpackage S/S09, which can be seen here: http://community.livejournal.com/foto_decadent/1938866.html#cutid1

I first noticed his work in V magazine. Since then he has shot for Plastique, Mirage, Exit, Tank, Last Magazine and im sure many more soon.

Not to mention his work for Alexander Wang
