So sad to see such legends as Chalayan to be ignored and overlooked by the fashion industry. One of only a handful left where it is actual design and not cheap gimmicks.

So sad to see such legends as Chalayan to be ignored and overlooked by the fashion industry. One of only a handful left where it is actual design and not cheap gimmicks.

It may be reflect the lack of « consistency » of his career. He has great skills but the question is « what are people coming to see ».

I see a lot of beautiful clothes but are they Chalayan’s enough for somebody who is not a fan or a devotee customer?

Add to that the fact that London is not really a city known for respecting established designers....

There’s a lot of beautiful pieces here but I can’t help feeling that this exists in a bubble that is not in sync with the times anymore. And while this might be the collection’s strong point ( something that is not marketed or product driven , but based on intellectual concepts and abstract ideas) it is also what might make it seem dated . My hope is that , as Fashion evolves again he will find himself once more at the forefront . We all know the pendulum will swing back to the other extreme of where fashion is now eventually
