CHANEL Black Satin Nail Polish

I like Chanel's black satin, but i prefer OPI's black onyx. I think shimmery nail colours look cheap, especially if they are deep hues,of course it depends.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet, but OPI's discontinued color "Black Tie Optional" looks almost exactly like Black Satin - you could wear Black Tie Optional on one hand & Black Satin on the other, and not have a single person tell the difference.

But for now, I'll stick to OPI's "Lincoln Park After Dark."

And, IIRC, Chanel's coming out this spring with a black polish with "marine blue" undertones (instead of red like "Vamp" or silver like "Black Satin.")

I have on my fingers now, the Asia/Europe version of the Black Satin. And though it's not shimmery or sought after like the US versions, I do like the glossy finish it gives.

Still curious about the shimmery US version though.

I really don't like black nail polish because of the whole 'I'm dark and inspiring and twisted inside' thing that goes along with it. But, I think, if I wore Chanel's black polish, it wouldn't even be a problem because its feminine, chic and gorgeous Chanel.

I did three stores in Montreal today to find Black Satin and I came back empty handed  We have the normal version here (not US), so I thought I would be able to find one, but no luck. I'm so sad :(

I got two testers here, I traded it with some fragrance testers I had from Dior with the Chanel lady that had no idea about the rage about this nailpolish.

so woo for me

got mine recently, and I <3 it - wearing it right now :)

OMG. This thread is hilarious and really entertaining. Seriously? $150 for a bottle of Chanel nail polish?! That is absurd. But I guess I understand the hype. It IS chanel after all. Anyway, I wanted to ask if anybody knew how long a bottle of the nail varnish would last before turning bad?

Neiman Marcus just got a shipment in causeI got a bottle in the mail randomly. I think that as long as you take care of it, maybe put in fridge or soemthing. My polished usually last a couple of years.

Well, I bought it and I love it. There doesn't seem to be a big fuss about this particular polish in the UK, it just sits on the counter like all the others. I hope it looks good on my nails, but I just like it because it's a bit different, and now you can wear it without it being 'goth'.
Looking at the other black polishes that are available, I think Black Satin is a really great black. It's deep without being stark (my hands are very pale, so I was worried about that!) and a topcoat of clear polish brings it to a really nice shine. It's stayed on really well too...a ton better than other polishes I've been using (Dior!!!).

Ok, well that's my rave! Does anyone know if it is limited edition in Europe or just US? I might have to stock up if it isn't going to be around forever!

Ahh!! I'm surprised. I went to the Chanel counter today and the sales assisstant said that it's sold out across all the Chanel counters in Singapore. I tried out the polish they had in the tester and the colour really is great. Although I think I like the 'vamp' shade better against my skin tone. Anyway, I placed orders for both so can't wait!!:p

Finally got mine yesterday!! (doing a little happy dance!:D ) I'm going to put it on later tonight. This is stupid, but I'm so happy!

Congrats...Ihave been wearing it forever and for some reason people always comment...You will have to let us know if you get any comments:)

I don't find it hard to put on as a polish, but getting it perfect...now that's hard!

Getting it perfect is almost impossible..

No kidding! I've had a bottle for a few months and the first time I put it on, I was too impatient and it didn't look that great.

A few weeks ago, I took the bottle to my neighborhood manicurist and not only did it look perfect it lasted over two weeks. I've never had nail polish last that long and never a dark color. It could have lasted even longer, but I'm too perfectionistic and took it off at the first small chip.

I will say that it might be the last time though - EVERY girl there and even some Moms were getting OPI's Black Onyx or Lincoln Park After Dark and a few asked if they could "borrow" my Chanel! (I did let one girl use it because she was so cute about it!)

I asked one of my coworker stoday, and she uses Sally Hansen. Two coats and it's looks great. :D

I bought some from NYC Colour (usually they're cheap and good.) but the polish is sooo watered down, it looks terrible! Like watercolour paints.

i like dark nail polish..but i sort of like burgundys better...but maybe i should try the chanel one just for fun!!
