CHANEL Black Satin Nail Polish

Is Black Satin still available? Or is it limited release?

It's still available @ Neiman's here (Wash, DC USA). They got their shipment on Halloween.

Mine lasted about 2 weeks as well.

after wearing mine, i've come to the conclusion that i like urban decay's perversion much better.

oh well.

I finally tried the black nail polish look. I like it so far. I used wet n' wild black creme. It's shiny. I applied two coats and now I'm hoping it will last for at least a week. :innocent: It's the best black nail polish I ever tried. Before that all my black nail polish were very watery.

sally hansen has a new knockoff version of black satin out. i've seen it in the drugstores - it has its own display and seems to be fairly similar (black with veryvery fine subtle shimmer). it's called 'black orchid'.... i laughed when i first saw it but i'll definitely pick up a bottle. :p

hmm, ive had mine when it came out and tried it and its nothing special at all.. if anything i used to own better black varnishes than this one

Wet 'n' Wild nail polish is awful, but the Sally Hansen color might be good, I don't know... Wet 'n' Wild used to be one of the only black polishes available, and if this trend gives me better options, so be it. :p (But due to the nature of limited editions, I'm concerned that upon running out, anyone who wants black nails after the trend has died will be in trouble... :ninja:)

My nails chipped the following day. Well I got what I paid for.

try a decent topcoat over it, that should make the worst nail varnishes stay

I tried the Sally Hansen version... sorry for the blurriness of these pictures, none of them would turn out well:

i've only ever used mavala black nail polish. first bought it when i was 8, and haven't looked back! i love their mini yet powerful bottles.

I've searched for it everywhere in my town as well, but I can't seem to find it. Actually the only black nail polish I've seen is a gosh one. So I have been using that one for quite some time, It's not great but when I use the chanel overcoat it doesn't look that bad. I'm still searching for the Chanel one though, or perhaps I should see if the sally hansen is available anywhere near me. . .

By some miracle I managed to get a bottle today for £12 from the Chanel counter in Boots , I went in to get Noir Ceramic but the lady had one bottle left of Black Satin , purchased and am now wearing impressed.

i tried those vs. the chanel - the latter lasts a little longer but i couldnt really tell the diff (gasp!).

Yeah, Jennifer it does look pretty. I want a color that's almost black, but not.. more like a shiny charcoal? Or with a hint of navy blue? Does that exist anywhere?

If you can find it, Noir Ceramic is exactly what you described. You may want to check the thread for suggestions on similar colors.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet, but OPI's discontinued color "Black Tie Optional" looks almost exactly like Black Satin - you could wear Black Tie Optional on one hand & Black Satin on the other, and not have a single person tell the difference.

But for now, I'll stick to OPI's "Lincoln Park After Dark."

And, IIRC, Chanel's coming out this spring with a black polish with "marine blue" undertones (instead of red like "Vamp" or silver like "Black Satin.")

I'm with you...I LOVE "Lincoln Park After Dark" and miss "Black Tie Optional." Today I purchased "Black Onyx" because I had seen if featured on one of the models in Vogue and it looked fabulous. Hope it looks just as great on me...:flower:

I tried Wet n' Wild's polish, and it chipped way too much.

I'm going out to gather whatever others I can find. Revlon, Rimmel, Sally Hansen, whoever else has one..

I was looking at Revlon's website, and their line "Dark Pleasures" seems to have some great colors. I may get a couple.
