CHANEL Black Satin Nail Polish

I'm with you...I LOVE "Lincoln Park After Dark" and miss "Black Tie Optional." Today I purchased "Black Onyx" because I had seen if featured on one of the models in Vogue and it looked fabulous. Hope it looks just as great on me...:flower:

I just had a mani/pedi with Black Tie Optional. I did not realize that they discontinued the color. It is too bad b/c it is sooo pretty!

I bought one from Ebay ... it's on its way, and I'm going to get a mani for the first time in about forever.

I'm excited!

I used to work at Chanel and I have a few but I hated it, so I've given most of them away. It hasn't hit winter in Australia yet but everyone is still wearing it. I might wear it in winter, but to me it just looks downright goth and dirty..some girls can pull it off..but as soon as it gets chipped or the sheen fades, it just HAS to be taken off or it is plain tacky.

OK. It looks good the first day you apply, then it's dull and chips a lot.

That said, it makes me feel tough to have short black fingernails.

I have two bottles of black nail polish (chanel and dashing diva), but each time I put it on I don't quite like it.

I like more irredescent nail polishes and both are just too matte. Even though I read everywhere it had a shimmer to it.

I think I'll stick with my shimmer-y electric blue. I LOVE it. Had to have it shipped to Sydney from Melbourne because you could only buy it in one place in Australia. haha

I would love to have long black nails, but my nails wont grow long.

Right now I have my toenails painted black. I'm kind of unsure of it. But they would probably look good in black peeptoes.

Pavement- the look is short black nails so you'd go well at keeping them short. when they're too long they look very goth. check out the Chanel catalogue.

Well I don't mean very long. Mine are just of perpetually minimal length.

And I would rather look goth than mall goth.

oh yeah, If I was to wear the long nails, i'd go for black pointy ones with the white dot on the cuticule

Do we think this trend is over? I don't see it much anymore. In fact, I'm seeing a lot of white and silver - just the opposite.

I know dark nails are still in magazines though - the other day I had a work meeting with a woman who was probably 60+ and she had short black nails. Of course, she was rather hip with cool clothes.

(And I firmly believe that if you love love love it, you certainly don't have to stop! )

milky pale nails are definitely becoming more prevalent. i've been eyeing the pale blue Lippmann Collection Vinyl polish. i still love my MAC dark angel, Creative Nail Design blueblood, and OPI lincoln park after dark... but those aren't flat-out black. just dark.

^ I've been looking for a great Milky Pale nail polish. Any suggestions? I can't seem to find one..and whenever I see something that is similar it turns transparent on my nails.

OPI's Bubble Bath is a pretty good pale color. I think it's more on the white side than pink and is great for manicures. A few coats and it will be opaque. Also, Giada de Laurentiis from the cooking show Everyday Italian wears it on her show and it looks gorgeous.

MimiMcqueen, i don't think you can really go wrong with any of Essie or OPI's pale shades (i would just make sure that the shade name doesn't specify "sheer"). my biggest challenge with pale colors is the application - i never get manicures and would much prefer to change and apply polish myself, but milky shades really show every ridge and ripple. if anyone knows of a great base coat to minimize those, i'd love to hear about it! :p

I'm tempted to sell mine on ebay to make a quick buck or two. Because I don't wear it! Mind you it is coming into winter here in Australia in a few months so I might give it a chance.

Agreed. I've now read this in 2 magazines. They suggested ones like Nars Edelweiss, Bourjois Ivoire Sexy, Victoria's Secret Skinny Dip, and L'Oreal Paris Pearly Whites.

I have Wet n' Wild French White Creme. It chips really quickly, but it's cheap. There's no reason to spend a lot of money on this trend, since I don't think it will last long.

Has Chanel rereleased Black Satin? I noticed on the website they had it for sale.
I think so, I recently saw it in stores where it was previously sold out for months.
