Chanel & Burberry part ways with Kate Moss

Endemic behavior

Unfortunately it seem endemic. Of course in Kates case she flies high.. therefore falls hard. This is so sad...

COCAINE abuse is rampant in Britain’s modelling industry, a Sun probe can reveal.

Our investigation into drug use at London Fashion Week found the Class-A powder at two out of three shows.

Tests commissioned by The Sun confirmed traces of cocaine in toilets used by top models and designers.

The results come just a week after Kate Moss was exposed as a cocaine user — and explodes the myth that the drug is not widespread in the fashion world.

Moss was dumped from a string of fashion chains after she was pictured taking drugs with boyfriend Pete Doherty.

At Fashion Week, designers and stylists are able to relax backstage in the dressing room area with invited guests before the next show begins.

While our reporter queued, a stream of models and hangers-on popped in and out of the portable loo behind the catwalk tent outside the Natural History Museum in Kensington, West London.

One girl came out sniffing before anxiously wiping her left nostril in the mirror.

Cocaine traces were on toilet lids and wooden cisterns.

Two swabs were taken on Tuesday after a Topshop-sponsored event by new designer Ashish and cult design label Eley Kishimoto.

VIP guests there included ex-All Saints stars Nicole Appleton and Melanie Blatt, and Hugh Grant’s girlfriend Jemima Khan.

M&S boss Stuart Rose was also spotted.

There is no suggestion any of them took the drug.

The swabs were tested positive by labs including Scientifics, who specialise in testing drugs for the police.

Forensic scientist Adam Booker said: “There were definitely traces of cocaine on two of the samples.”

Six out of six samples taken at after-show parties for top designers including Versace and Alexander McQueen also tested positive.

Guests included Mariah Carey, England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, Joan Collins and Bob Geldof. There is no suggestion any of them had used drugs.

London Fashion Week had no comment to make about the traces of cocaine found at their event’s facilities.

A spokesperson for Eley Kishimoto said: “The toilets were communal for every show.”

Philip Stephen, spokesman for Ashish and owner of London boutique Concrete, said: “As far as I’m aware no one used drugs at Ashish’s show.”

He added: “Cocaine is widespread in the fashion industry. Unfortunately there are some models who can’t stay skinny without using drugs.”

*ooops* sorry mom.

yeah... i LOVE nirvana. in fact, kate moss, shalom harlowe and amber valetta did that waif look craze back then. it went with the grunge music & stuff.

and there was also that weird looking chick... something macmename.

Mom... I think the phrase you're looking for is "non-troll person with a brain". Ah, this is a case of coke is so passé it's all about the opioid receptors. Yeah, denial of what killed Kurt seems to complete your case against addiction nicely

serve her right...she got herself into trouble anyway..i never really think she is all that
i really don't see why girls will take drugs to be like her....they would only dress to be like her

I find the ignore list works very well, but it's more effective when people don't quote the original post. You can never win a battle with someone who is intent on using trollish behaviour.

I am actually shocked by some peoples additude against the whole thing. To actually say it's no big deal and that this treatment it unfair... Wow. I hope they all drop her, it will set an example. I love Kate Moss for her style, and always will enjoy seeing candids of her. But it's only right that after seeing evidence of her taking drugs, people should drop her. In any other business they would, so why is this different? And to you who say they all do it, but Kate was unlucky getting caught... That is true, but innocent to otherwise proven, right? It's like that everywhere.

What I can't believe is that people are going bananas over Kate using coke and demonizing her, but when it came out that George W. Bush used coke these same right wing conservatives elected him President of the Unites States. TWICE.

Oh...I guess the difference is the Bush didn't get caught in the act. And he reformed himself before he got exploited by the press. Oh...and he says he's a Christain now.

i can't believe cocaine use at fashion shows is news-worthy.

This is The Sun we're talking about. Hardly the height of serious journalism.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but that did not happen while he was in the middle of his President post, and he has not lied about using that kind of drug. And it did not accour at a point where he had a meaningful job like now. And yes, it is different that he was not caught at it, i bet if it was pictures of him doing drugs that was exposed in the campaign period, he would not be Americas president today. But he was atleast honest about it.

according to this article, Roberto Cavalli has also dumped her:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-1792363,00.html

Both Chanel and Roberto Cavalli, the Italian designer, yesterday joined the clutch of couturiers that have distanced themselves from Moss after the Daily Mirror published photographs of her allegedly snorting five lines of cocaine in 45 minutes.

Has anyone heard about Marion Barry - the Mayor of Washington who was caught on FBI tape in a hotelroom smoking crack with a prostitute? He was in jail for two years. When he came out he was reelected. Believe me, there are more important places to start drug busts than with celebs.

Good point. And such actions by an elected official relate directly to their jobs. Elected officials are supposed to be role models and have a strong set of ethics. Past and present, IMO. Not so with models, whose only job description is to look pretty (I know some of you disagree on that point).

It seems to me that people love a good "redemption" story. So maybe if Kate redeems herself and cleans up, people who have a problem with her will once again embrace her!

Offcourse there are much more important drug busts than with clebs, but does that mean that they should be ignored?

Chanel cancel but Burberry, Rimiel, Dior not, this Companies announced that they continue supporting kate and that his private image should not affect his image profecional. Thia are a family And in the moment that one has an evil moment or a problem is not the best thing to leave it

The news today said that Christian Dior, H Stern and Fred Paris are still supporting Kate in their campaigns. I think by the time her French Vogue guest-editing issue comes out, she will be hot again.

To me this in a way just highlights the absurdity of “legal” drugs vs. “illegal.” She didn’t snort coke and run someone over with her car – she sat around and chatted, just as many of us do at a cocktail party. If she had consumed 3 pitchers of margaritas and run around behaving much worse it all would have been swept under the carpet. No, I don’t think doing coke is a good idea, but the line (no pun intended) separating what is acceptable substance use and what isn’t seems so arbitrary…

ya but crack is illegal for a reason. it makes ya boast confidence and feel like you're on top of the world but it f*cks up your head.
had kate been without a child, id say she was free to do whatever the hell she wanted. but kate is responsible for TWO lives so she better get her act together soon.

that being said, i still stand by what i said earlier: shes getting an unfair and way too harsh treatment by hypocritical companies who KNEW kate was a crackhead when they first hired her.

Now if any of these young girls out here who were following Kate Moss were disillusion into thinking she was so thin because she exercise and ate right or that she was just 'naturally thin' now you know the real deal!!

....

I have never been a fan of Kate Moss. I still don' t get her appeal as a model but I kinda feel sorry for her now that everyone is dumping her like a ton of bricks but then again i feel like she should have been responsible. This is going to sound mean but I hope Dior dumps her eventually( i just found last seasons ads sooo boring). I think what' s best for her is to disappear for awhile and if she is lucky this thing will blow over as quickly as possible.

Has she commented on these allegations yet?
