Chanel & Burberry part ways with Kate Moss

It's so sad. she kind of ends her career with drugs. normally models do when they're young and under a lot of pressure, don't you think?

Kate Moss is 31, so her time in front of the camera is ticking away. She perhaps has got maybe 3 good years left. Chanel stated that after October when her contract was up they were going to start looking for a "younger face". This really was the time for her to make her money and then diversify into other areas of the entertainment industry (if she's on top of her game). The image that has now been put out there by media may hurt her future prospects in movie/tv industry, which to me seems the most likely direction to go in after modeling.

I don't wish bad on anybody, hopefully her immediately family and close friends will try to help Kate get herself "together" and as I stated before, maybe this will be the thing that will really make her take rehab seriously, put those drugs down and get out of that wild lifestyle she is living! Obviously, it's not worth everything she going through right now.

^Hey that wasn't me talking! I was paraphrasing what the model in the article said!
I was pointing out that ppl should not be so naive as to think this is some kind of exceptional situation. It is the dark underbelly of fashion that A LOT of models use cocaine and that we shouldn't put them on such high pedestals.

You're right --- the modeling industry fosters drug abuse and they know who is using and who isn't but they got money to make and ad campaigns to run. The Agency, managers, designers, photographers, assistants, etc. they all know whats up. You can't hide that type of habit. The agencies and designers are the one that pressure these girls to be heroin-thin, knowing they will probably have to resort to a "habit" to meet their crazy, insane expectations of thinness.

This is why there are women standing up now -- about these unrealistics standards of thinness that is being pushed by the media.

No doubt, there are plenty of people in the industry that can "set the scene" for your downfall, however you got to have a strong mind, a clear mind and a strong will, not to let other people influence you to get involved in drugs. If you don't have enough respect for yourself, your family and enough will power not to let the fashion or entertainment industry corrupt you, then you just might be in the 'wrong business'.

Kate Moss is going to lost her US visa this way, I don't know does any of you remeber this infamous accident that happened to Paul McCartney when they found drugs in his bags in Japan and because of that he was not allowed to go to US for 10 years and that's why his career went down...

Arguably, Paul McCartney's career went down because he was about as cool as a fan-oven. Sir Mick's career seems to have taken very little impact from his flirtations with drugs. Quite a lot of people listen to music outside of the USA...

kate has 30 million pounds. i seriously doubt her life will be over if she never works again, which she will, of course. the fashion industry is extremely forgiving. we will see her back in no time. in fact, she will be in the upcoming campaign for harrod's argentina and her guest edit for paris vogue is coming up.

The news just said she's made an apology 'to all the people I've let down' for the drug allegations and takes full responsibility or something.

I'm quite young, a teenager. Although my group of friends are some of the youngest at the clubs/gigs/parties we go to, I am one of only 2 of 8 who hasn't ever touched cocaine. One of 3 of 8 thats not a regular user. This is not unusual, I'm also friends with girls as young as 14 who do worse than coke and we all know of younger.
There will always be club and party circuits where drugs are rife. Kate Moss has moved through so many circuits, its no suprise she's addicted to something. In fact I'm more suprised at how long she's been able to keep it up! She was an umm, "acquaintance" of Bobby Gillespie for years, a point at which I think cocaine was the least of her worries. And now the sun says she smokes crack cocaine, I wondered how long it'd be before I saw that in the papers. All thats without even mentioning the fact she's been modelling for years.
The tabloids angle that Pete has corrupted her is ridiculous. Come on. He's guilty of taking away some of the mystery she's built up, of being a little naive in the press game and giving the tabloids a better story. At the most his lack of judgement has probably meant these "revelations".
BUT Drugs are illegal whatever your views on them and no matter how common they are. For a high profile public figure to be found to be caught up in them does call for action. But this should include, like it does with so many drug-using citizens, a rehabilitation programme. One of the companies previously employing Kate would have done so much better if they'd pulled her contract until she'd completed some kind of rehab and if they'd offered their help to sort her out. They'd still have Kate Moss and they'd still be seen to have the moral high ground.

She made her bed, now she should lay in it.

And any good court would deam her an UNFIT MOTHER and have her child taken away from her.

She's just shameful.

Me too! Good post. Let's not forget the following:

Burberry=chavs (apparently this is a derogatory term but I use it to point out that Burberry has become common. I don't particularly like the demonisation of a legitamate culture and a way of dress)

Chanel: as far as immortal French companies go, well I'll take Balenciaga, Courreges and Saint Laurent over Chanel any day. Chanel is going the same way as Burberry. Any one wanting to be seen as serious, dons a Chanel blazer.

Rimmel: Quite like their lipsticks but it is hardly a groundbreaking cosmetics company.

I think everyone is forgetting how HUGE Kate is not just as a model, but as a concept.

Considering the background of certain persons at Dior, I should think Kate has at least one employer... :innocent:

So true! LOL

"I take full responsibility for my actions," she said in a statement released by the Storm Model Management agency.

"I also accept that there are various personal issues that I need to address and have started taking the difficult, yet necessary, steps to resolve them."

Moss added: "I want to apologize to all of the people I have let down because of my behavior which has reflected badly on my family, friends, co-workers, business associates and others."

Her lawyer, Gerrard Tyrrell, said his client had nothing to add to the brief statement at this stage.

How can anyone now say 'This is not a big deal' when she herself has said this is a big deal????

Well if Dior keeps her then there is a good chance that she can still model for Louis Vuitton and others owned by LVMH. As a past user Donatella might and Alexander McQueen is a good friend also.

I wouldn't be surprised if Marc Jacobs uses her (hopefully if she goes to rehab). He did with Winona Ryder after the shoplifting trial and he is totally in love with Lil Kim at the moment who has just started her prison sentence.

I've said it many times on other boards Kate is far from over.

Kate Moss isn't the only model out there in the world. There are a lot of other good models so I hardly think those companies will suffer from dropping her. Besides she may be big in Britain and known by everyone who has a interest in fashion, but in America she's pretty much anonymous. I never even heard of her until I came to this site.

out of curiosity -

how is it that she looks so good, when she smokes like a chimney and does drugs?
