Chanel Cruise 2024 Los Angeles

Basically the Chanel collection that Emmanuel Alt and Vogue Paris have always dreamed of.
The look on Vittoria is pure Emmanuelle Alt for VP! Almost glorious…

‘This theme done by a real designer with some real dress-making, good tailoring and strong separates (not just logo tshirts) would have been a hit tbh.

Lots of Virginie collections would have been hits if done by a real designer. Comes to show that execution is more important than conception, regardless of what modern critics say.

Wonder why Inez & Vioodh didn't collaborate with the old VP crew for this...would've been a perfect opportunity. Maybe they are trying to distant themselves from this mess

a few good looks drowned in a sea of commercial, uninspired and silly-in-your-face-summer/designs but unfortunately humourless and frumpy-ish.

she needs to (re?)take tailoring lessons. ASAP

loved the opening looks on Anna and Vittoria and what a treat to see Daphne back!
can we have these 3 for the ad campaign PLEASE?

the evening Wear continue to be really weak.

highlight: using ‘Basic Instint’s soundtrack as opening theme and halfway through had me living! LOVED IT.

At first I liked it (mainly bc of the swimsuits) but then I realized how cheap most of the clothes look. I thought it would be better on video but it's even worse. Horrendous shoes (the one on Adut Akech was specially ridiculous) and very very very cheap-looking details on everything. Rebecca's look was simply disgusting. The only things that save are the casting and the hair/make-up. such a disappointment... sadly VV will probably never (or not anytime soon) be replaced but omg they need someone with a VISION and most of all GOOD TASTE.

Not even Vogue Runway - a sucker for money and nowadays neutral for everything that comes from conglomerates - cared that much about it. Out of the 6 paragraphs they wrote, 4 were related to Karl or other things and only 2 regarding the actual collection and VV's inpirations.

Only the last 4 looks are worth presenting, the rest of the collection is on the same level as Shein.

She is the worst commercial designer right now, even MGC knows how to elevate her merchandise (I'm gladly take her Mumbai show over this mess).
Her use of logos is the worst, like look 41, seriously?
Karl played with vulgarity but he always knew how to elevate and make it fun. Here Virginie is just presenting them in the most uninspired way.
And apparently, the tailoring atelier had left the chat during this collection, because the execution of the clothes is just terrible.
And cruise collection is not an excuse for a weak collection in terms of execution, because Karl never lowered his even for his most commercial collection. His Seoul still stands the test of time even to this day. I can't say the same about this collection.

She should reissue the 2007 cruise show and save herself from presenting this embarrassment.

I think it's because she seems to have a sequins overload or embroidery overload (prefall 2023) with her collections...
These things should be used in moderation to serve the entire look, rather than the other way around.

At least it's not as stuffy as usual. Many of these will look good in real life. The hair and beauty is good too.

"Cruise" have become into the Titanic 2...taste has sunk into a new deep bottom level at Chanel.

Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls meets Valley Girl. The hair and make-up is gorgeous though; it’s always nice to see top models get to look glam, because you rarely see it on mainstream runways these days.

She is begging to be fired , this is atrocious more than usual. The equivalent of writing your name on a 3 hour exam paper and leaving.

There is no way she get fired, I mean if you been to any Chanel store in past two years, you will see how crazily she succeeded, it's unbelievable that Chanel maybe the only luxury brand that has a long waiting line at any spot, not even Karl or Hermes achieved that.
In Karl's era, I could just walk in and appreciate the collection casually and peacefully. Well, not anymore, I need to book two days in advance just to get in and everything got sold out even before displayed. Customers are fighting for items!
With Chanel's price strategy and Virginie's mediocre yet somehow wildly accepted design, Chanel is really marching into this gigantic cash cow with no soul.....
Well, Chanel is always trying to be on the level of Hermes in leather department, I would say be careful what you wish for
