Chanel F/W 08.09 : Claudia Schiffer by Karl Lagerfeld

This is turning out to be one of my favourite campaigns of the season. The newest ones remind me of the ones Karl did with Karen Elson. Thanks for all the snaps and scans .

Messy, gloomy, and a little grotesque but elegant. Especially the photos of a well-lighted room and Claudia on a black dress with white curtains are very nice.

Im not feeling this campaign at all, it doesnt feel very Chanel to me, you can hardly tell its Claudia, I miss the old ads with Daria or KAte Moss, or Freja

^well to me, nothing can replace the ads with kate moss. chanel and kate are like the perfect combination for me but i really like these ones too. i think they are better than the ones with freja or even daria. i especially love the shot with the black lace cocktail dress and curtains.

well the fact that you can hardly tell it's claudia is one of the reasons why i love it. besides, of course, the photos themselves, the clothes, the set... it's so classy and there's a bit of a film noir vibe to it, i don't know... i can't remember a chanel campaign i liked better than this. mariacarla in 2003 was very good and so was kate, vanessa paradis for the mademoiselle bag was awesome but not better, and irina lazareanu for chanel-monte carlo was perfect, she's such a chanel girl, but still it wasn't better, just as good. for me, lagerfeld totally made up for the disappointment i felt when i read claudia schiffer was doing chanel again.

this is a really beautiful campaign, suprisingly. i remember when i first saw the preview on it about a month ago and was like "disaster" but it turned out quite lovely. Claudia looks awesome with the black hair, especially.

Also, I don't understand what the point of using a 'supermodel' like Claudia is, when people can't even recognize her with that wig.

Isn't the point of using supers, the fact that more people will associate with the model?
