Chanel 'Gabrielle' Handbags S/S 2017 by Karl Lagerfeld

Why is this ugly bag getting it's own campaign? It's nothing special at all.

^^
Chanel is having this "Gabrielle year" with the bag and the perfume. They wants this bag to be a classic like they managed to do with the Boy so, they are pushing it in the most agressive way possible.

The bag is actually more convincing when worn and in one solid color, in Small or medium size.
The alligator version of Pharrell is beyond! I'm not so sure about the color-blocking of Cara.

Caroline de Maigret:

Vogue Spain May 2017 digital edition

I like these pictures a lot more!!

That bag is the most awful thing I saw today, and this morning I saw a pair of medium-wedge ankle boots in fake suede with a wrinkly leg and little pink diamonds glued to it, so it's saying A LOT! :ninja: The campaign is very bad too.

^ Right? It's probably one of the ugliest bags I've seen lately, and that includes those Vuitton x Koons monstrosities.

I dislike the campaign too. The usual Chanel suspects posing in the most boring way possible.

I just saw it in person at the store and I think it's just not working for me. The bag is really ugly and it doesn't have that Chanel charm about it. And the aggressive marketing making it so force.

Not a fan of the bag or the campaign.

These images are too polished and glossy for this bag. Something like the ads from 2005-2006 with Daria would better suit the style.

I don't see this bag becoming a classic but only time will tell.

I would argue that Caroline's book is what pushed her into the spotlight again, not Karl, but I am a huge fan so a little biased

Indeed. She's got this Chanel representative gig because her profile has been high for a while. Caroline actually sold me the bag with that stupid video they made, but then i see this thing with Cara, and Chanel just "unsold" me the bag. Everything look horrid.

^^
Her book was released in 2014 and she has been a unofficial ambassador since 2010. Before her book, she was known mostly as "the Chanel spokesperson". But it's true that the book really raised her profile...

The lower part of the bag is quite weird to be honest. It's an heavy bag but the shape is quite timeless.
They really needs to do something about that lower part...
As i can't afford the alligator version of Pharrell, this bag is a total NO for me. But i've heard that it's selling good....That heavy marketing is paying off!:mohawk:

^That lower part is bothering me as well, it doesn't connect. In my mind I'm trying to make it work but it just doesn't work.

Besides Caroline, this campaign is awful and that includes the bag itself.

But she only became proper embassador very recently. Clearly she had to up her game before being given the gig. It's her doing.
I would dare say that's one of the worst traits of Karl, he's the most high profile bandwagon jumper ever in relation to people he uses for Chanel. There was a time he was into Lily Allen for FFS.

What's worse, people actually liked Lily for Chanel on here. For me that chapter, also the Daria one (I know we'll fight on this one, ), are blocked from my memory. It was just so blank and unimaginative. But to this day I see Lily wearing Chanel paired with sweatpants, as she's running her errands. Often wonder if Karl is still throwing freebies her way, or she's actually paying for the goods.

And the Coco Cocoon line was a big fail.
I almost wonder if Lily wasn't trying to get notice by Karl because he explained that she bought a lot of Chanel (RTW & Bags) and people from Chanel noticed that and told him and then she became very close to the house.

Then, after it was Blake Lively and today, the Mademoiselle line is kinda discontinued even if it was a very beautiful line.

The irony is that the bag for which they choose the most "irrelevant" personality of them all is actually the most successful. I don't think Alice Dellal was influencial in the success of the boy but she is lucky...

The big question is: do they really think that Cara is influencial?
