Actresses, CHANEL ambassadors and icons of their generation, Lily-Rose Depp, Margaret Qualley and Whitney Peak are the heroines of the new CHANEL 22 bag campaign. Presented for the first time at the Spring-Summer 2022 Ready-to-Wear show, the latest CHANEL bag is featured in a series of photos and films directed by Inez & Vinoodh.

From Los Angeles and Montana to New York, Lily-Rose Depp, Margaret Qualley and Whitney Peak evolve within three singular visual universes, scripted like veritable summaries of their own personalities.

“We were given the opportunity to create three completely different stories with three completely different women and set out to create three stories that would show a lesser known side of each woman,” says the photographic duo Inez & Vinoodh. ″Researching and diving into their worlds was very inspiring for us.”

The photos from the campaign will start being unveiled from March 21st and the films from April 6th.

Terrible bag. It looks like those counterfeits which slap the «Chanel » logo on bag designs which don’t even exist in the brand’s offer.

Is it the first time the Chanel logo is used in such a way on a leather quilted bag?

Before anyone ever saw this campaign, that new model was (kindly) being called "the trash bag" on account of its colour and shape.

Because of how the brand built itself up over the Lagerfeld decades, Chanel can coast for a while, the name alone will continue to sell. But death by a thousand cuts to the brand's perceived values will lead to the moment when people start viewing it with cold eyes.

And to think they criticized YSL when this is a bad cosplay of Saint Laurent.

that collage OMFG ‘what is that’?

on the second picture I actually think that Lily-Rose looks good if it wasn’t for the styling, set decoration and that God awful bag.

Ugly ad to complement the ugly bag. I cannot believe this is from Chanel. Like girl, how desperate you are.

roller blades in a bathroom with led lights on the floor...? what is going on

That’s not a good bag…
but easy in production...
In POP magazine thread is footage with Rebecca Longendyke by Mark Kean with this bag it is look terrible. Looks like trash bag for greengrocer's shopping. Simple cotton bag is more chic.

They have vintage bags in their archives they should rather relaunch or redesign than this.
What I hate the most is maybe the « CHANEL ». I hate this bag even more than the Deauville one.

Obviously Chanel is trying to push this bag because it is probably cheap to produce and they can make a HUGE profit on it at retail. It's glaringly obvious! And all the Chanel suckers will go crazy for this because a) it will be cheap compared to their iconic bags which have now gone up again in price (!) and b) Chanel branding. That's enough for them.

Chanel clearly doesn't want to cater to a sophisticated clientele anymore. Virginie made that clear when she took over: her designs cater to the lowest of the low in terms of taste, hence the plethora of logos all over the clothes, so much visible branding, such basic silhouettes, basic concepts, etc, etc.

And even though Chanel was always a bit basic and ringarde compared to other Parisian Maison's, Karl somehow managed to inject some intellectual and cultural weight into his collections. Viard on the other hand? She is happy to do the bare minimum, put absolutely no effort in whatsoever and cash her Chanel cheque every month whilst chilling somewhere in Provence and watching from afar all the Chanel suckers queue outside the boutique for her basic-logo-heavy designs.

Gawd, it must be such a delight to design for Chanel. Absolutely no pressure whatsoever because the stuff sells itself no matter how bad it is and the press will never criticise you because your bosses pay them off! What a dream job for a designer! All those LVMH and Kering designers must be climbing over each other to get the Chanel top job after all the pressure they're put under by their respective companies...

they're having a hard time trying to cater to a younger customer as expected. Chanel should just swallow its pride and hire Slimane asap because this brand is about to become again the old and dusty fashion house that dresses grandmothers.
