To be honest, after watching the video and seeing the details, I can say this is better than Christian Dior, if only for the French "allure" which Maria Grazia seems to be philosophically and aesthetically opposed to with every fibre of her being.
Chanel knows how to capitalise on the whole Paris/Parisienne aesthetic all too well, and thankfully they do, because these days you see increasingly less links to Paris and to Haute Couture cultural history in the collections. Call me a traditionalist, but in my opinion these Maison's have a certain responsibility toward promoting French (Couture) culture and Virginie seems to be the only designer in Paris doing that. Maria Grazia, Pierpaolo, Giorgio, and even Kim are all in a sense advancing the idea of Italian Alta Moda, which is not the same thing, exquisite as it may be.
As underwhelming as this may be, this is still Chanel Haute Couture, and I will take Virginie's aesthetic over any other of the shows thus far.
