Chanel Iman

Is it true she reads the Bible? I read about it in nymag.com. I'm impressed. I totally loved her after reading that. ♥

^ Hello? Chanel got Ralph Lauren & GAP! :ninja: It's tough for women of color to book BIG Ads due to competition with other well known models. Ford is managing her well since 2006! ;)

Ford's Supermodel Of The World is coming to Brazil for the first time ever. The event will be taking place at Casa Fasano in São Paulo on Thursday night, with host Chanel Iman, and guest judge Stephen Gan

Yeah Ralph Lauren is pretty big but she never gets the highly coveted campaigns. But I'm excited for her to be hosting the competition!

Was Chanel's RL campaign the actual campaign...or just an pre-campaign adv? Sorta like for FW 09 when in WWD there was an adv with chanel ( runway shot) but the real campaign went to Valentina and Magdalena.???

Everything about her is working to the 10th degree in that pic!

Stoopid Ford....where are her campaigns...after such a great season and BIG YEAR.....:judge:

What campaigns have Sesilee booked? or Jourdan or Rose Cordero, or Lyndsey Scott? My point is that women of color have a very very difficult time booking big campaigns. Even the great Naomi and Tyra had their difficulties booking campaigns. Naomi has spoken about being black and having it much harder to book ads than her contemporaries. So before everyone thinks she'd do better at IMG or Women or Next, don't assume. The all have models of color there who have not done nearly as well as Chanel. Ultimately Chanel deserves most of the credit for that but Ford deserves some credit as well. And there have been many cases of models jumping ship when they were successful and then just floundering after they defected. Look no further than Chanel's former Ford mate Agnete who has done NOTHING since she went to Next.

That is true but I consider Jourdan and Chanel in different category than Sessilee (though she is ranked higher on mdc) and the rest. They are among the elite of the modeling world. Sessilee has never had a good runway presence. Jourdan was pregnant so no shoots for her. As for Chanel..... she gets great campaigns but with the exception of Bottega Veneta and Ralph Lauren they are always one step below blue-chip. With her smokin hot runway presence, fantastic eds, numerous prestigious covers, and the general clout she has in the industry she should be signing contracts left and right. She deserves more. They ALL do! Ford probably is doing an outstanding job for her. I think its the designers and the bookers who have obvious prejudices. I mean, she was def robbed of the Dsquared campaign. No question! Maybe some photographers just don't like her (Meisel, M&M, I&V, etc):(

Two good interesting points coming from woemwoem & labelwhore...
Its just obvious that Models of Color are not booking Blue Chip Campaigns... Chanel so deserves D-Squared, Dior and a few others as Jourdan IMO deserved to be part of the Multi-girl Prada ads that featured a slew of Models and personally it would not have hurt nor scarred the Prada image to include one black face amid the mugs of Garnn, Sasonkina, Smit, Agren, Thormann and etc...
So I dont think its the agencies fault, they obviously work hard to get their black models the work they deserve but they still cannot make any decisions when it comes to whose cast in the Blue Chip Campaign Ads....
