Chanel Iman shot the upcoming fall 2010 Rosa Chá ad campaign yesterday in São Paulo. She was also in town to present Ford Supermodel Of The World last night. I caught up with her at the event before she got on stage to present the winner.

MIB: Were you expecting that it was going to be this crazy here (Brazilian reporters went into a frenzy as soon as she arrived at the event)?
Chanel Iman: Well, I am glad to be in Brazil, and it's exciting to be here at the Ford Models Supermodel of the World contest. I have been looking forward to coming to São Paulo since last year.

MIB: It's your first time in the city, right?
CI: It's my very first time.

MIB: When did you get here?
CI: I got here a few days ago, and I will be here for a couple of days. I am looking forward to going to Rio if I can make it there.

MIB: And you were just shooting Rosa Chá today, right? How was that?
CI: It was amazing. I love the Rosa Chá crew. They're all so beautiful, and all the clothes are amazing, and they're all so talented. It was lots of fun.

MIB: We can't wait to see it. I am sure it's going to be great. Are you coming back for fashion week?
CI: Maybe. I am here now for Rosa Chá and for my agency Ford. Oh, and I am here for fun with the Brazilians.

MIB: That's why we are all here for.

Total sweetheart. I actually shot a little video but I haven't uploaded it yet because it turned out very dark, and I had a security person constantly threatening to kick me out if I didn't hurry up and stop asking questions.

Chanel is now THE TOP black girl on MDC Top 50 models! As you might remember this belonged to Sessilee Lopez ( for some strange reason). But Chanel is now number 12 ! Congrats to Miss Chanel for starting out the year on a good note.

Very happy she's getting another campaign... I have a feeling it will take a while before she gets the bigger campaigns but I think it will eventually happen since she's an excellent model and her star continues to rise

She is eclectically sublime at Balenciaga. I always love to see her there because she fits the aesthetic so well.

^^ Although I still think it's highly unlikely, it's also far from impossible that she was a campaign possibility (despite every hater in the book scoffing at the idea)...she has done all the last four shows and MAS likes her...I also thought Miranda was going to be in the campaign as she was selected exclusively by Ghesquiere so it's poss she could've also been turned down by Meisel, not to mention Lisanne being apparantly cut from the campaign (based off the ads so far).

However it doesn't make complete sense as Meisel booked Chanel for Anna Sui S/S 2010...and she's not a regular at this show every season. I'm done trying to assess the whole scenario it gives me a headache quite frankly . I love Meisel to death but his favouritism games go around and round and up and down.

I'd love to see Chanel work with Mert & Marcus (who I believe can really bring out an energetic, vibrant side to her) and Paolo Roversi this year...but any work is good work. I wonder what that post-VS Miami shoot was for?

Wait, she got Anna Sui? I didn't know that!
