Chanel Iman

LOL @ Karma...if only it could bring some models long term contracts so that they could afford to sit out some cities

Why else do they walk these runways, it sure ain't because it's "prestigous".
There's never been any Chanel hype..she worked her way up quietly without the backing of the leading tastemakers and Bethan Hardison drumming up media interest about the lack of ethnic models. She won't ever need anyone revitalizing her career while many others were not even booking shows outside of NYC until people were practically forced too :innocent:

I want to see Chanel continue to grow and do all types of modeling but let's be real here, Chanel walked for a lot of high fashion designers in Paris and Milan and that's it. The Paris and Milan houses were not letting her open and close their shows, she did not score campaigns and was not on the cover of the magazines, so while I would like to see it happen, I don't blame her for not trekking to Paris to be the seventeenth model out at Balenciaga.

P.S.
For the record I am not asserting that she did no campaign and editorial work in Europe nor opened / closed shows.
ETA:
P.S. 2:
In contrast (IIRC), she had a contract within a year of working for VS and within two years, they are building a product line around her, when it comes to Chanel and her career, VS should not be hated on!

Really?.

^ Yep at least that is my interpretation of it, I am referring to the sports / NFL stuff that she is doing within PINK.

Lets call a spade a spade here....but certain models were practically shoved down casting directors/designers/editors throat! Thats the REAL tea..And its not even a secret, everyone knows it..these girls didn't WORK their way up.....they were imposed upon the important people.

Exactly, Chanel was booking shows and then eds on her own before this call to arms about lack of racial diversity circa F/W 08...which helped certain girls out. Not to mention that all of the others had to have people backing them (one girl had Enninful, another had Meisel and one had sneaky management) in order to get 90% of their work.

If she isn't in Paris that's fine, it's nice to see her do any shows at all when she doesn't need the money; it's just a little sad that she wasn't at Galliano's last show after we were lead to believe she'd be there and her whole statement in relation to him this week.

And riddle me this....why after that whole incident Chanel has never done a JPG or Zac show? Who really is the pressed one?

You ain't got to lie, Craig! hahaa

But seriously can someone PM me with a synopsis of what actually happened between her and Sessilee?

I don't think it was ever told what happened....but if you get some tea...please PM me.....I think a la Balenciaga knows some bits and info:flower:

No one truly knows...there are a few shady Chanel haters around that have made up stories about what had happened and a few who are still playing the "i won't tell, it's really bad" game almost 2 years in. All we know for sure is someone's mom going off on twitter, talk about being tacky

Why are we talking about all of this again.

Where was Mrs. Chyna in all this:lol:...was she on twitter trying to come for Sessilee?:ninja:

I knew all of the drama about the mom tweeting, and the chairs being thrown and the crying backstage, but I never knew exactly what happened that caused this. Was that ever explained anywhere?

To be honest I am kind of surprised that she was not at Dior, considering it was John Galliano's last collection for the house and she always says how great and supportive he is to her.
And didn't this so called feud with Sessilee happen like 2 years ago? What did Chanel even do to Sessilee? I think it was just blown way out of proportion by the media and nothing really even happened.

And I wish she would have walked for Isabel Marant or Balmain. I think the aesthetics of both designers suit her well.
I think she is distancing herself from HF (or HF is distancing itself from her). Perhaps she is just not in demand any more by designers.
I guess it does not matter though considering the fact that runway usually pays in trade and she is making real $$$$ from VS.

I'm not sure I agree that IMG is putting her on ice.
She has had the i-D cover, Vogue Italia, other edits, and that stretch with where it seemed she had a cover a week coming out lol
I agree that she's been working her way without the support some of her other competitors had and she's been doing nicely. Even if she doesn't land their campaigns, designers still continue to support her on the runway.
She's got what others don't have, star quality. It'll all work out; she's getting paid.
