BASSO SPEEDS UPTOWN: Following in the footsteps of Coco Rocha and Naomi Campbell, Chanel Iman has been recruited to appear in Dennis Basso’s fall ad campaign.
In search of a Seventies vibe, photographer Bernard Hunt headed to Morningside Heights to shoot the model with Tori Praver-Fuller, styled by Kate Young. Standing beneath the Riverside Drive Viaduct, Iman was photographed in one of Basso’s bejeweled cocktail dresses and Praver-Fuller was pictured looking relaxed in one of his embellished evening gowns. Accentuating the dichotomy between the designer’s eveningwear and the gritty street scene is a steely blue 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix at the center of the shot. But Basso didn’t need a scout to find the vintage ride — his business partner John Georgiades, an automotive aficionado, loaned him the car for the day.
If the glare of the sun got too much, Young was covered, having recently partnered with the eyewear maker Tura for her first collection of signature sunglasses. Meanwhile, Basso’s fall campaign will appear in domestic and international fashion magazines.
