I know why she's not doing couture or editorials...
the demand for Chanel no longer exists. There are more relevant models like Joan Smalls, amongst others that have that "it" factor. Chanel may have to stick to more commercial designer labels like express, not high fashion.

What does Joan Smalls have to do with Chanel? Just because other models of color are becoming successful doesn't mean the others have to fail. This is really getting annoying.

It's true. Apparently in high fashion, there is predominantly ONE girl of color to be represented in the shows. And Chanel was once the only black girl on the runway. But times have changed and there are MORE colored girls on the runway. And Jourdan followed, and now it's Joan. Chanel, Jourdan and Joan are all different girls. And they all have they're own IT factors. You know why Chanel isn't in high fashion anymore? I think the reason why she isn't relevant as she once was because SHE didn't want it. She said it herself in Vogue that she people around her told that she do commercial work later but SHE wanted to actually do VS, and VS=commercial.

Chanel and Joan have their OWN IT factors, nothing to be compared for. But although she's not doing booked for campaigns or doing ed's for Vogue Paris or Nippon, last time I checked she's eating lunch with Anna Wintour, walking for Tom Ford and Balenciaga (only other colored girl to do so is Liya) and an upcoming editorial in Vogue Italia and Vogue US. By then, she will be in three worldwide Vogue publications.

Chanel is in a league of her own in that regard, you cant classify as strictly editorial or commercial ... she is a model that is choosing her career tragectory as much as she possibly can, (also remembering models of colour DO NOT have the same opportunities as their non-coloured counterparts) instead of a being a model that has no choice but to do commerical... there is something to be said for how hard she works, her determination & the strategic approach to her career ... she doesnt get all the best work others get offerred but she certainly works damn hard & makes the most of every opportunity ...

I dont know if anyone noticed...but based on her recent tweets....it seems like she is going through some stuff(look at her last tweet)...personal? proffesionally?....She recently posted something along the lines of " The Game is Messsy!"...maybe she was refering to the Modeling industry?....or maybe im just reading too much into it.

no, i think it'd be more something personal rather than professional.... she always seemed very eager to make a career out of modelling... which would probably back up what hommeboy10 said about there simply being no more demand for chanel in the industry, rather than her choosing not to do work.

and no, we're not saying there can onlybe one coloured model working the industry at a time...
there sadly is not that much demand, not yet atleast, in the industry for coloured models, so usually only one or 2 most are working the circuit hard at once.

but hopefully we can keep seeing chanel sticking around in the commercial area!

Not to sound negative or anything, but last time I checked Natasha had a Givenchy campaign, Sasha had Miu Miu....and they had plenty of Blue Chip edits....Chanel didn't even book Express....No shade but Miss Iman needs to change management!
