That was terrible, however the full version was much better tbh.

I hate full versions of commercials because I’m expecting something to happen and sometimes, nothing happens. The full N5 with Kidman was super cheesy. The commercial with Audrey Tautou was good because the story was simple even though too long. The one with Gisele was again too long.

I only like full commercials by Jean Paul Goude because there’s a good rythmn.

A younger man for Margot isn't working

At first, I didn’t get it.
But I re-watched it: they are giving each other a rendez vous, missed each other while driving. Once they realized it, she take a swim to join him…

I’m confused to why she took a swim when he could have followed her smell…
At least we see her put the fragrance…

Very underwhelming. And I don’t get the point of having Jacob here, Margot has the star power to sell this on her own.

I love the music choice though!

It's a commercial where two idiots fail to meet up despite having modern technology at their fingertips, and the man seems to not have his full driving licence and is stuck having to use a bike to get anywhere in life.

Margot Robbie looks great, but it feels like the story of a woman who's having to downgrade her taste in men because she lives too far away from the ones on her level.

Well They are definitely going to another route, quite literal. This is such a departure from previous brand identity for Chanel N 5, lets forget about gowns, nightlife, stardom like previous ads with Nicole, Marion, etc. Is this Chanel's answer to quiet luxury?

Let's be honest, she's insanely gorgeous and he's gorgeous too. The red is perfect on her, hair & makeup too and I want Jacob's bomber.
The music is a great find but the storyline of a missed rendez-vous is cheesy and dumb as f*ck, it ends looking like a car commercial.
Plus I am pretty bothered they went that much into gender stereotypes: he should have the car and she should be on the motorcycle, even with her red jacket. That would have been much more 2025.

Her cropped suit is giving me Alicia Silverstone "Clueless" vibes...and indeed this feels totally clueless.
Instead of wearing the parfum, it seems poor Margot has drank it. The story is nonsensical.

Keira Knightley had already the motorcycle for Coco Mademoiselle. There wasn’t any transportation mode left lol

But I really wonder if the inspiration for this commercial is not Carole Bouquet’s one. The car, the meeting with a man, the red suit. Carole Bouquet crossed the whole USA to have a kiss from a man in the middle of the desert so maybe it’s the inspiration…

I wonder if Michel Gaubert works as a sound consultant also for the CHANEL beauty division. He's a great Daft Punk fan and used Around the world for the FW13 world globe show and Contact for the FW17 space station show

It’s a possibility. Amanda Lear for Coco Mademoiselle is very Gaubert coded too.
And it’s really interesting to see how they choose French productions too.

Margot in red is sensational and I wish Mat would push the CHANEL red back (it's a very CHANEL color but people often forget it cause it's a bold color and they prefer black / white and beige), however the commercial is the most pointless thing I ever seen. The worst no.5 video commercial ever. Even Gisele surfing with Spring 2014 couture sneakers was better than this.
