Chanel Resort 2008

^^ i love that third pixeled top! there's a denim jacket that has the same kind of... ummm... sequins/fabric/whatever it is.... on the sleeves

thx for all the pics, chanel is always interesting but I cant say I like the collection

just discovered the shoes Lisa is wearing. Love them! (although i wouldn't want my toe pop out)

I honestly dont see the excitement surrounding any of these accessories and clothes, except from the buzz and the hype that surrounds any Chanel event.

The only element of cool with Chanel is to play out the over-the-top, over-exaggerated logo-plastering - loads of bracelets, pearls, headbands, camelias. Its a rather ironic, fashion-victim look that you have to embrace in order to make it "work".

I was a little bit excited about the previews, especially the heavy 80's power suit-vibe, but now... Chanel is definetily on my list of old fashion houses that should be closed. This is degrading to the brilliance of Coco. Is Chanel anything else anymore than plastering the logo everywhere and making celebrities wear Chanel? Where's style? Fashion? Elegance? Where's Chanel?

Wow, sans Lisa dragging her clutch behind her like a disobediant puppy, I love that look. V-neck, sweater dress...effortless! Plus those boots are serious.

things actually change! we don't know what would coco be doing today.
imo, karl is doing a very good job making this house work, we must keep in mind that before he got to chanel the brand had absolutly no hope.

Yes there is a lot of logo, and lot's of the same themes year after year, season after season... but there's also a lot of delicate embroideries, new ideas, materials, proportions, tech

( I LOVE the boots lisa is wearing... hate the v-neck)

Of course the house was dead. Coco was dead too! The creative power, the legend behind the house no longer could create the fashion.

What has Lagerfeld's Chanel given to fashion?

Please tell me more about these "new ideas" you see in Lagerfeld's work for Chanel. Is the new idea to make snowboards with the Chanel logo? Or have a fluffy teen star representing the label?

^^ i understand your dissapointment whitelinen ... i admit that somethimes it seems a little sad that the logo-mania is as good as chanel can get.

however, besides the teenstars, the surfboards and the RAPer-catching stuff karl has also done a lot to mantain and rescue the couturiers techniques, the craftmanship... i think that there's no doubt to say that if a woman ever needed a good tailleur, she would still be able to go to chanel and find one... maybe one that would be even better than from the "coco era".

as i said, things change and new fabrics are developed, these amazing "summer-tweeds", there's a lot more accurate conciousness of consumers behaviour, what theay want, what they expect...

i just think that chanel nowadays, very well supplies a wide range of customers... form the teen girl that wants her first 2.55 to a lady that wears nothing but haute couture tailleurs

I don't care for this at all  perhaps if I see some better pics...

fantastic! karl's new direction is brilliant!

I agree. It is obvious Karl is trying to cater to the young, hip hop generation and I love it. He only caressed the "street- inspired" surface during the FW season, and now he has fully grasped it. The summer-tweed jacket and hot pant that Milana is wearing is an example of the hip hop influence, just great. So far the accessories are lovely also, especially the huge red Chanel logo neck piece. I respect the work Coco did, and would like for Karl to continue on that road in the future, but this is the present and Karl should be applauded for this beautiful collection. I cannot wait for the rest, im so excited.:shock::lol:

I understand both points of view... but you cant expect a cruise collection to be as pret-a porter (not talking about haute couture). cruise colections are cheaper, younger and not so fashionable.

I dint like the result of this collection either, nothing special or remarkable. but Chanel is still Chanel and Karl knows what he does

I love that also, work Lisa, drag that extremely expensive purse as if it means nothing to you. Karl sure knows how to convey a message.

JunyaSchick, maybe i'm wrong but i always thought chanel was normally the opposite... their cruise and prefall are more expensive because they are smaller collections and so there's a lot more homage to lesage, massaro, montex and all these fantastic artisans that make the couture collections too

as I know, cruises lines, in general , smaller (limited) collections (that´s true) but they are cheaper than the "collection"...

I think massaro and those artisans just participate in haute couture and some special and exclusive orders from special and exclusive clients.
