Chanel S/S 2024 Paris

The collection is fine, for a pre-collection look book, which is what this woman was actually in charge of under KL. And I don't mean cruise of metier, I mean P and B collections which look wise rarely saw the light of day. That's what this is. Filler. Awful, awful filler.

I echoed the Anna Sui vibes too! I had the feeling of watching one of her shows...only the Chanel logos where there reminding me I was wrong.

It is ironic how expensive all these clothes are, and how cheap they look!

Do their really sell RTW ? Or uniquely in some markets ? I never see someone in Chanel in Paris... maybe a few tourists, but that screams Midwest imho.

Chanel RTW sell like crazy in Asia. Walk-in client is unlikely to buy jacket because it is booked in advacne right after fashion show. People are addicted to discussing everything about classic tweed jacket esp in China. The fabric..the pattern..the finishing....Also there are a lot of people sharing their fitting for Couture online.

Roger Vivier is the same. I only see once in Le bon marche then in Hong Kong I see like 200 pairs a day.

Finally had the decency to watch this and man... Chanel really is something else now. I don't believe the people who buy this actually like it. I don't think they even know anything. They just know "... okay so this is what I'm supposed to buy and wear to be in the club and above everyone else" But what does the club even stand for at this point...

Chanel shows by Viard are a complete disaster and so at odds with what the essence of the brand is, which is (arguably) a kind of reduced simplicity and "French" idea of chic.

Virginie is stuck in a time warp of 80s and 90s which is exhausting and also quite contradictory to the marketing/vision of the brand which seems to be all about timelessness. You look at the direction of the branding and then you see her collections, and it's totally confusing.

What's more, if Chanel was designing herself today, I predict her clothes would be more closely aligned to what The Row looks like than whatever gaudy mess this is.

yeap people really line up for chanel stores and not just for the shoes/bags in asia. for middle east, their full length clothing are all over too

I'm sure it does sell well because it's easy pieces with a logo slapped on it. On top of that, a lot of looks so openly cater to the Middle East clients aka where the money is (and yes I know Chanel isn't the only fashion brand that overtly does this) - and that's been the case since the Karl days it seems but my god, the cut of such looks have become even more uninteresting and shapeless since Virginie came on board.

Since her first collection for the house, I genuinely cannot tell the collections apart or think of a key look/color palette/silhouette/theme from each season. And can the presentations get any more drab - Karl's shows utilized the natural light, even if it was a cloudy day, that came into the Grand Palais. Which is such a simple factor but it did make the clothes seem more believable despite how over-the-top they sometimes were. But she loves a dark set with a harsh light. She really just has poor taste all around.

I never realised that about Karl's shows, but looking back, his shows at the Grand Palais never had an actual lighting setup. It gave the illusion of his shows looking like they were held outside, which really helped for settings like the beach, the waterfall and the forest.

It's really hard to comment...
And I don't see any connection at all between the show looks and the show teaser video

Just as bad a usual. Can she leave already ???????!!!!
I'm tired and ashamed of what she dares to present under the Chanel name.
It looks like a school project and it doesn't feel genuine or chic.
It's a plain mismatch.

Sad to see Chanel like this. I am sorry for Virginie, but she has no talent for fashion. I am sure she can be great as an assistant, but not as a leader. Chanel is dead.
