Chanel S/S 2026 Paris

Wow the garments look quite bad in those Instagram pictures.

A friend of mine asked me: what would people think if this was an offering by Carolina Herrera? He was kinda spot on. No one would’ve cared.

We like to look a little bit further because it’s MB.
To be fair, the scrutiny or lack thereof goes in both senses.
Maybe there are tons of praise because it is simply better than Viard (which is setting the bar real low); but we wouldn't go so far in our criticism about materials and the convenience of viscose for a summery version of the tweed if it wasn't Chanel, neither.

(By the way, I agree 100% with Caffeine in that regard. )

The fabric manipulation in detail is insane! I was skeptical about him but I think he will be perfect for the brand... I just hope he uses a stronger team for the campaigns than the one he used at Bottega because this could be his most fragile part...For me he is far superior to JWA in terms of design, but he lacks the ability to build a world around his clothes. I'm also happy that while being from the school of Raf and Pieter, he is able to be frivolous and have fun, qualities that the former two definitely don't have!
I agree, but what did you expect from Chanel? I am sometimes baffled when they go: “the craftsmanship is amazing”. I mean, they are working with Lesage, Montex… and their prices are sometimes over 10K. I honestly take it for granted. And actually it’s just some beads here and there (very well done tho), but nothing really groundbreaking tbh. I must say the fall is amazing in most of the skirts, but we are talking about the peak of luxury, if you don’t have good craftsmanship here the world is lost.

I think JW is better in design and world building and MB in craftsmanship.

I understand and agree with what you say, I was meaning something different, I'm not so good in English so I try to explain better...what I mean is that when you have those incredible ateliers you have to challenge them, and Matthieu is very good in doing it! Hedi and Mariagrazia for me just rely on what the ateliers can do perfectly without taking any risk. Of course what they produce is perfectly constructed but it's nothing less that what you expect. I think no one of them could even imagine this level of intricacy and details in one single garment...

I don't know...they look a bit questionable to me. Good innovation here and there, but many are zara-looking blends.
The best part is that many of the existing customers, at least here in America, will ask the tailors to alter the big shoulders. And the tailors won't be happy

Even when you have a good tailor at your disposal, you can’t really do anything with the shoulder, the width (which I’m afraid, will make petite women with a small frame look like a square) is permanent!

My problem (not only with Blazy but also the majority of other designers of his generation) is that their sense of cut and proportion doesn’t lead up to clothes that look good on most women, whereas the original tweed jackets from Gabrielle Chanel and later Karl Lagerfeld, are characterized by a narrow, unstructured shoulder and a high-cut armhole for freedom of movement - In that regard, you can really speak of a cardigan jacket.

Sis is fighting absolutely everyone! I wonder how much sis got for this new social media engagement model?
With the influencers (e.g. Sussie), not so much the journalists, I feel like they’re not even getting merch or a small check lol, they’re just securing their seat for the next show 😭 .. the picture of the filthiest white bag like ‘details ✨✨’, yeah no, with those details just pass me over the giant furry bag that strikes you in the eye from a mile away but won’t give you an eye injury..

Of course the details are insane, when you have Lesage and Montex at your disposal you can put embroidery and it will make anything look wow. Other houses and designers can only dream of these details. Chanel was smart to have bought them all. To me with all those techniques on top I think it already save the impression visually people will digest anything savior faire any day and justify the craftsmanship. If we are praising these techniques then Lesage, Montex and Lemarie should be the one getting all the praise for this collection. I will come back again when the collection hits the store and see what made the shops.

I was expecting more for bags tho :( The start is a beat up 2.55? And a classic flap sans-chain. Sad

Thank you. I want to give you a hug.
I don't know who on earth thought that those big shoulders and wide jackets, along with low cut pants that show underwear will look good on 5'4" women with hips.

everyone must have been really gagged by the Balenciaga rodeo lol. So many open bags this season. Also wow at the reaction on purse forum, Reddit, IG comments etc. Chanel has trained their consumers to like logos and very “Chanel” products. Most of these women are not happy. Lastly, wtf are these shoes?? Someone at bergdorfs told me a few years ago that Chanel was their best selling shoe brand. This is definitely not what their fans want.

"Well I hope the materials are of the highest quality of silk, wool, leather and cotton. Otherwise, I could be looking something pulled straight from the local mall. Look 1 Alo Yoga track suit (Margot Robbie). Look 2 Banana Republic, Look 3 early 20002 Club Monaco (Penelope Cruz), look 4 1990s Gap (Nicole Kidman). Oh but the label on the collar says Chanel with a matching price tag."

Guess I'm not alone.

Just went to BOF IG - Alex Fury is having an absolute meltdown over people not loving and getting the new Chanel. Sis is fighting absolutely everyone! I wonder how much sis got for this new social media engagement model?
💀💀💀💀💀😭😭😭😭

I love fashion, it’s such a circus!!! Lmaoooo

Btw, MB bags for Bottega were waaaaaaaay stronger. The black saddle with the double C is horrible! Looks like a fake.
