Chanel S/S 2026 Pre-Collection

Recently they always had a piece or two in lesage tweed with the pre-collections. But in general, lesage tweed has become rarer...
VV is very under-rated when it comes to elevated daywear, no matter how boring her runway collections were. But the pre-collection in the past two years seemed to have been styled by a very different team or person...the aesthetics was different.
I refuse to paint VV's collections with one broad brush. The tension with the higher ups was obvious when you visit the store in the past two years. I have no idea how their HQ people make decisions, so far it looks like their sales in early 2026 won't be good. Judging from the Red Note, the Asian buyers also hate the MB collection.

(I know, the people who don't appreciate MB must be country bumpkins and less sophisticated.)
I didn’t liked Virginie’s stuff. She did great things but I didn’t liked it. She is great woman but she wasn’t a designer and I don’t regret her.
Tbh, I don’t really care about the sales per say. I’m just happy that a brand I care about is in good hands (unlike Fendi where it’s doomed).
They are billionaires, they will figure it out. When Virginie started, the reviews and feedbacks weren’t great either. Chanel customers were spoiled as for 30 years they had the same designer even if in those years, things changed a lot (I’m not sure the Chanel customer who bought the 1995 collection was very pleased by the 1998/1999 collections but they were necessary for the relevance of the house).
From a pragmatic POV, this collection does it job, the same way that the same collections are doing their jobs for Loewe to Vuitton.

If this past decade proved something in terms of fashion is that the power of some brands can work when the CD has a clear vision of what they are doing. Nobody is having 100% praise and in general people who don’t like it are more vocal than people who likes it.

The stunts of the Philophiles, the controversy of the first show and the dip in sales in the early seasons of Hedi at Céline didn’t prevent him to have a commercial success at the end.

What interest me at Chanel is to see his vision develop (beyond the clothes that I like).

Virginie is not there. She is not coming back. But Chanel had to move on.

I’m more angry at what is happening at Fendi than what is happening with Chanel.

These clothes are even less man friendly than Karl-nel. Karl-nel homme was like dandy inspired and awful.

If they think theyre putting men in this stuff theyre out of their minds. Chanel Homme can only be done with Hedi. The only thing CH could have is tweed but they took all the structure out of their tweeds making them even more feminine.

Look 1, 3, 7 here look perfectly unisex. I’m a guy they look fine to me. My problem is how pedestrian it looks for what you’re paying. Then again clearly im not your average Chanel customer. Love MB’s BV and his debut at Chanel though.

Also more and more men are dressing in unstructured jackets so I’m so sure not having a structure is an issue here.

are you comparing a mens jacket with no lining to a chanel jacket ?

Like. No. Look at the Chanel HC some random man wears. Looking like a crazy person with a hourglass fitted waist. So no. Chanel clothes do not work on a mans body. I have owned Chanel Homme and am telling you from personal experience.

That I agree - that extreme of an hourglass isn’t a good look on men but judging from his SS I’m guessing things won’t be as fitted so I’m hopeful

I do like the grey suit, but mostly because it has a Maoist energy. And wouldn't Maoist Chanel be a funny, potentially very chic, combination. Quick, someone send Mathieu to a screening of La Chinoise...

It's incredible how he gets it. It's really hard to do it but he is doing a great job. The runaway collection is precious, gives you a statement, and here is the development, the assured technique. Not to mention the Look is so sensible; fine line between madame, woman, young lady . And elegant as hell.

Rider had better styling than this.
This is depressing. Some looks can be out of the Seinfeld. Shoes are very dated. Some from the 80s others early 2000s.
There are a couple of classic jackets, so people have things to purchase, but this will make customers miss VV very much (minus the logo mandate from the suits).

I don't follow social media but it sounds like people were very mean to VV? This will also backfire.

The average nyc soccer mom is more chic than this.

It's funny you said that because in my peasant mind that's how a nyc soccer mom dresses like, or a Hamptons lady.

The inspiration for his debut show was the relationship between Coco and Capel...so, what´s the inspiration for this?? A one-night stand Coco had once, while she was drunk?? (she has to be drunk for those stockings)...

The day she found out about his marriage to his wife to be, and then she felt depressed?
(But I can totally see that by the second day, she will dress like the strong Coco again. So there could be a sequel. )

So I try to not exaggerate, but this is beyond pedestrian. I never thought I’d see a pair of ill-fitted blue jeans and standard grey v neck as an official look at Chanel.

I guess with the annual marketing budget of $3 billion that Chanel has, there will be no real opinion coming from the media outlets.
