Chanel - The Campaign Archive

^^ Deal!! :woot: Many of my binders are just ads, so I really need to do some scanning here...

When did Karl and Innes part...? Are they on speaking terms now?
They had a huge fallout in 1989. The reason was that Ines posed for the "Bust of Marianne" that year, which is a symbol of French pride. Some of the other famous women who have posed for the Bust of Marianne in the past were Brigitte Bardot and Catherine Deneuve. Anyway, the fact that Ines posed for the Marianne was in violation of her contract with Chanel. She was fired as the Chanel muse, and a legal battle ensued. Somewhere along the lines of that battle, Karl publicly claimed that Ines thought that she was Coco Chanel, and Ines told the press that Karl was a "Kaiser" tyrant (hence Karl's unofficial nickname "Kaiser Karl").

If you look at Ines' thread, there is a picture of her from 1989 standing next to the Bardot bust of Marianne.

I think that she and Karl are now on speaking terms though. :)

Does anyone have images of Kate Moss's Chanel campaign which was shot in Biarritz? :flower:

My scan Vogue Australia back in...?

they appeared on tv together some years ago (in France, on France 3) ...
but i cannot remember what ines said about this ...

:lol::doh: ...

the legend says it's because Ines became the face for the Marianne (the republican figure of France ... Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve and Laetitia Casta are others women who were the face for it ...) ...
but i don't know if this is true ...

^is that Shalom Harlow in the back?

Horrible outfit but nice pic.

Yeah it is Shalom. In the background she does not belong.

^Do you know if she was in the forefront of any other images belonging to that campaign?

Oh yes she was, this is the only one like that.

^ That is one of my least favorite catalogs in my collection. Nice because it is well oversize at 11x17 inches, but the paper is not the nice glossy paper Lagerfeld used in the 80s and 90s.

Saw a request from way back when and did not see anyone post any clear images, so did a couple scans this morning and will finish these up later this week.

^ Thanks so much!! I don't remember these...A couple of years ago I decided I would start a serious collection- until I realized there must have been 10,000 ads done over the years between the fashion collections, jewelry, perfumes, make up, etc etc...Hopeless to even catalog them all...

That is why you have to go for the catalogs. Though even there are pics that don't appear in the catalog that are in the ads, and far more in the catalogs / look books than are in the mags.

One of my prizes is a Shalom Harlow ad from the 95 FW. Catalog / Hardcover Look book has this image in black and white... and some magazine out there had it in color??? What is up with that. I could see it the other way around, but was very surprised

Those ads with Angela from 2000 are indeed not very nice.

and the next two pages...
