Chav Culture

Like I have said before in this thread, attitude (in this case, antisocial behaviour) is what mainly makes a chav. Have you seen Victoria or Colleen hanging around on street corners with Bethany-Aleesha pelting passing people with objects and screaming abuse at random strangers who've just happened to walk by? Have you seen Alex Curran joyriding a stolen car through the streets of Liverpool?

I don't like the WAGs at all and I agree that many of them can look chavvy/some may come from chavvy backgrounds. But I wouldn't put them in the same league as a typical young offendor decked out in fake burberry or mckenzie who attacks innocent people and graffitis your car.

“Whats your problem? Wanna make sommin of it? Bling Bling” when the adult starts to walk towards the young lad, the young lad pisses himself and runs off to either his pregnant 14-year-old girlfriend or his brother in the army crying his eyes out."

I never knew military service was associated with being a 'chav' in England? :ninja:

^I think the association was made because many young boys in the UK (a number of them being chavs, apparently) without decent/any qualifications join the army.

i don't personally associate it with that at all.. i just thought the description was funny:lol:

I don't know if i like the this whole anti-"chav" culture thats recently emerged. I know it's a bit of light hearted fun and I have taken the piss out of them too but I sort of feel like they are being subjected to middle class snobby attitudes and it's become totally acceptable to stereotype working class people in this way. It just creates more tension and division between those with money and those without.

edit: oops just realised that Lady Muck already made this point....sorry :)

nope she just bottles people in the face, and gets asbos from restaurants in manchester for spitting in the bouncers face and racist taunts.
I think joyriding is better. :) :P

Well I haven't seen any of them engaging in any antisocial behaviour thus far, so I personally wouldnt label them as 'chavs'. Saying that, many can resemble chavs at times  ....

what about alex curren then hehe

Money doesn't automatically make you classy. As far as I'm concerned these girls still act like chavs..

I wasn't aware of this, but after what you told me I would label her as a 'chav'.

I understand what you're saying, but chav does not automatically equal working-class, and vice versa.

Only people who are out of touch with the universe will judge people on simple things such as having money or not. People who arent happy themselves will judge other people only so they can feel better about their miserable lives lived in vain. Judging people on simple superficial things such as clothing, money or lifestyle makes you no better than what most people on this board refer to as "chav". That is why this world is a sh*thole, people cannot even love their fellow humanbeings because they wear "a fake burbery outfit", in my eyes these people are the lowest forms of life we have on this planet. Wake up!

I dont think anyone is judging any of these people's character. Granted I have not read the entire thread but It seems to me like saying someone is "chav" is just a style of dress. Like preppy or um... boho. That sort of thing. I mean there is no denying that each of these pictures depicts the same style of dress. Chav.

Also that chav isnt "someone who is poor" but someone who wears "fashions derived from American Hip Hop such as imitation gold, poorly made jewelry and fake designer clothing" (according to wikipedia). Doesn't mean you're poor. Anyone could buy such things and anyone could style them in chav fashion.

At least
thats my take on what Ive read so far.
