). Nonetheless, I do enjoy her for her looks and fashion, which is why I come on this thread, and was looking forward to her on the US show for that reason.

English people living just 150 miles south of her home town have trouble understanding her sometimes.

The accent is gross but it's the least of it.
Really. You can have your opinion, but 'gross' is a bit much. I'm not just saying that because I have the same accent, I just think you used a very strong word.
Anyhow back to Cheryl....I feel for her, as it seemed they really pissed her around before deciding whether she would be a judge or not and then she got the job and then this. She will get over this, she's a tough cookie and she needs to get herself back to the UK and get on with judging the UK version.
Who cares about breaking America, I hope the the whole show falls flat on it's **** anyway and that will be a kick in the teeth for the smug twat that is Simon Cowell.![]()
English isn't my motheer tongue, what's more I'm on some indermediate level and for me there are only two accents: american and british
I've always thought that she has normal british accent and I've never had any problems with understanding her when I was watching xfactor. So seriously how is it possible that people who speak english don't understand her?
(as someone has written above)Reasons Why it Wasn't Her Accent:
-Steve Jones (the XFactor US's host) is WELSH and has a pretty thick accent but he hasn't got booted off.
-California elected Arnold Swarznegger, who has a very thick accent, as GOVERNOR.
-The US has thousands of accents from all over the world.
-It would be discrimination if an accent (especially one that's understandable) is the reason for one's firing. They knew Cheryl had it when they met her!
-We have Americans here that we can't even understand, such as Henry Kissinger (former Secretary of State), Sylvester Stallone (US actor), and others, that have been very successful in their career fields. (Many people still watched the Rocky and Rambo movies).
I honestly think they may have just found her bland, personality wise. True talent and creativity will stand out and have longevity in the US; if not that, you have to have a pretty strong, quirky, and yes, perhaps even a trashy personality, and characteristics, to be noticeable as a TV personality. Even people with overbearing and annoying personalities will at least make it on reality shows. I don't believe Cheryl has either of these traits (talent and strong presence); she's just pretty. Now if her personality was anything like her younger years with GA, then she'd be much more interesting.
I'm not bashing her as a person but I'm one of those who thinks she's gotten this far by her looks alone. If you don't agree, take a look at her first audition on Pop Rivals; very mediocre "singing". The judges didn't even comment on her singing, but was drooling over how beautiful she was with her flawless skin (seriously, it was beyond creepy). Nonetheless, I do enjoy her for her looks and fashion, which is why I come on this thread, and was looking forward to her on the US show for that reason.

I was schocked when I heard about this 'accent thing'. I mean, really? I wonder who came up with this rumourEnglish isn't my motheer tongue, what's more I'm on some indermediate level and for me there are only two accents: american and british

i think something is fishy too. e news is saying that it's not about the accent, that she was homesick and quit. i don't understand, she's spent a lot of time here before, and it's not like she's being forced to live here forever and ever.
it may just be the chezza fan in me, but i'm still hoping it's not true/a publicity stunt...i was so excited for her to come here and i thought it would be so great with her, paula and simon...![]()

I highly doubt she'll still be featured on Glee if she's off X Factor. The whole point of that I think was to let people who would be viewing the X Factor (also on Fox like Glee) know who she isSince her song Parachute is supposed to be on Glee, perhaps that'll be her big break? Maybe they might even keep her on XFactor US because of it? Or maybe the other way around? No XFactor, no Glee?
And it this is true, wouldn't they have mentioned it on the official XFactor US site? I've checked and there are no updates or mention of it. Cheryl Coles name is still on the sites' headlines as a judge.
