lol! this was taken early in the morning. I believe those are the guys who were flying all over the place working on it. I think the open date was setback from what WWD Daily said. Read my blog for more info

I saw this in the Chicago Red Eye today:

"Stock your closet with some heavily discounted Prada and Dolce & Gabbana from high end resale shop Selections (2152 N. Clybourn Ave) We're taking 50% off items that already were discounted 70%. Sale ends Aug 11."

If I go, I'll let you know how it is!

This is off topic-I didn't know where else to post though. I just got an invitation to this through My space and thought I would share. Is it weird if I go by myself??

Join Chicago designer Amber Beach at the debut of her Fall line "The Temp", August 25, 2006 at Estudiotres, 5205 North Clark. Doors open at 9pm with complimentary beer and wine, music, and the artwork of Jaun Tauber. Following the show at 10:30pm the party will move next door to Jin Ju's swanky lounge where guests can enjoy complimentary "The Temp" martinis and passed appetizers.
$20 at the door, RSVP to [email protected] (21+)

Wow I want to go get those discounts and stuff! but im broke at the moment :( Oh btw I went to J. Mendel store and I saw AMAZING things. Its a VERY small collection in there, but they did have the very expensive fur pieces. From a $9,500 shawl to $35,000 chinchilla coat...very interesting store!

And why doesn't NM take Visa? I find that so weird. I had to have my mom pay instead. She now hates me.

That must be their company policy, because the NM in ST Louis is the same way- I had to go into the mall and use my credit card to buy enough gift certificates to pay for my shoes:(

-they want you to get a NM account- as if they aren't getting enough of your money already!

I'm working on a map of downtown (Chicago)- with the stores labeled:flower:

Chicago may be a bit lacking in designer boutiques-
But St. Louis is a Ghost town, so if I want to do serious shopping, Chicago is closest.

I made a map of the designer boutiques in chicago- (Google Maps)
I made this earlier this year for when I went to chicago

SO if anyone's taking a trip to the windy city, they could save this to their computer and print it out!

map chicago2.JPG
click on it to see the full size

if it needs adding to, let me know-

^Thank-you! One question though, what does the Jil Sander storefront look like? I've known there is one in Chicago on Oak Street, but I've passed it, like, 5 times without knowing it. (Not looking for it, but it bothers me that it's right there and I haven't noticed it.)

It is DIRECTLY accross the street from Yves Saint Laurent. It's not really that hidden, but its a small space. Also ask for Jazmin she is the BEST SA there. Tell her Jared send you! LOL :) Oh and if you are walking down oak from michigan ave it's on the right, if ur coming from rush, its on the left. Here is a little picture of it

It seems to me like Chicago is more interested in luxury than fashion. We're drowning in Prada, Dolce etc. but there doesn't seem to be much from designers out of the mainstream, and that's my main complaint with shopping in Chicago. There's only 3 places to buy Dior Homme here and thats a major brand. Forget about finding Ann D, Chalayan, or Simons (for men anyway). It's not all bad though, I picked up an AMAZING Balenciaga jacket from Barneys yesterday and talking to the SA (Amy, super nice) I learned they will be getting Lanvin Homme soon.
where else besides barneys can one purchase dior homme in chicago?

George Greene, which is a couple doors down from Barneys on Oak St. and Saks on Michigan Ave. Saks just picked DH up this season and they don't have much yet but a SA told me they are expecting more soon. George Greene has mostly suits and shirts, its more of a "gentlemans" store, and they don't tend to carry smaller sizes. I wear a 46 so I'm out of luck there. Barneys is really the best for DH, they get the most stuff and carry a full range of sizes.

Oh um.....I was in George Greene and they stopped carrying DH a few seasons back. So right now its just Barneys NYC and Saks for men.

How is that NM on Michigan Ave. Last Time I went there it was small Mens Dept. But I havent been there in ages what does it carry?

Really? I haven't been in this season but they definately had DH F/W05. They kinda screwed up by not carrying smaller sizes. I mean, if you wear a size 52 suit you're probably not going to be interested in DH. Saks has the same problem right now, they need to realize that the guys who buy DH aren't the same guys that buy Armani or Zegna and start getting 46s and 48s, maybe even 44s.

It's still small, very small compared to the huge selection of women's stuff. They buy very "safe" designers... Prada, Prada Sport, Gucci, Dolce, Armani, Zegna, Just Cavalli, Theory, a ton of Polo and Purple Label, Juicy, Diesel, and then a seperate section for suits with Brioni and that sort of thing.

yep I was in there the other day, their selections stink for men! :( They do have EVERYTHING for women however :(. I wish there was a better menswear store in Chicago...
