Christian Dior F/W 2017.18 by Brigitte Lacombe

One of the most iconic fashion houses pulls out possibly the most boring campaign of the season. Meanwhile, Zara hired Steven Meisel to smash it. It is so annoying because I like their idea of supporting female photographers but Lacombe is not for fashion campaigns at all.

Seriously how this is going to make people paying.
First the cast : nothing really exciting but I'm happy to see Adwoa & Jing.
This campaign is boring how can you produce this with the white background when you paid thousands euros to make an incredible runway venue , at least the could use it for the campaign I don't no...
There is no Dioresque Glamour or fantaisy to THIS... I rather take the good old Dior garden fantaisy vibes than this

Dior you going down..

Glad they have such a d i v e r s e cast and crew, otherwise, without the slogans, I could have mistaken Dior for not being p r o g r e s s i v e.

Super happy for Jing and very nice to see Adwoa, however the campaign is terrible. I mean there is nothing going on.. The clothes and models look so boring and bored. It's such a wasted opportunity

eta* also, everyone's boobs always look odd in those non-repetitive at all dresses, it's like the upper part of the cup is for the flat-chested, but the lower part is for B cups at least.. explain?.. you'd think that if you can make a bra, then you can make a closer to haute couture dress.. not to fast apparently.

OMG… such an odd but keen observation, Mullet LOL

It’s likely the poor retouching that’s giving her that impossible breast-structure… It’s also quite amazing how this one shot can successfully point out just how basic these clothes are— I mean, they’re not even “designs”; just basics from the junior section of any given mid-range department store, color-coded and bedazzled with all the creative skills of a 12yo having access to a Michael’s sale at the arts and crafts department. Raf must be cackling uncontrollably at all this juvenile banality this person is churning out.

^ LOL.

I could never focus on the boobs because those logo straps make me want to punch my computer.

JacqueMarcel is spot-on with the Benetton ad comparison.

What a wonderful surprise to see Jing. I'm so happy for her!

including Ruth Bell, Grace Hartzel, Adwoa Aboah, Selena Forrest, Fernanda Ly, Ellen Rosa, Aira Ferreira, Jing Wen and Camille Hurel

What a random cast! The models do not fit the brand and they don´t work as a goup. It looks like a lookbook. There is something wrong when Zara does better campaigns than Dior.

Collection and cast are not strong enough for such a puristic setting. It needs more happening around, more light effects and a better photographer.

This campaign is a joke. Truly awful cast. Diverse, yes, but so incredibly random. You'd think Dior could afford some big names, not has-beens.

It does look like a cheap lookbook
The video is a Prada rip-off.

Good God, I've seen better H&M campaigns than this! And except Selena and Jing, awful cast! Ellen Rosa literally has the same expression in every shot, and Grace Hartzel looks terrible in all her outfits.

Brigitte Lacombe is not doing this brand any favours!!

The diversity seems forced but I guess I have to give them props for doing it.

It's campaigns like this one that make me realise we might be seeing more diversity, but at a time when magazines and advertising are duller than they ever have been.

So instead of being a massive transfusion of fresh blood, 'diversity' seems forced and uninspiring. What a waste. What an absolute waste.

After receiving the new Dior Catwalk book only a few days ago and becoming familiar with some of those wonderful collections John Galliano produced for Dior - this lame, dull and lifeless new campaign makes me so sad and nostalgic of the good ol' Nick Knight and Craig McDean days.

i didn't think anything could be worse than the old Dior ads. why are there no good creative directors at these brands anymore? no one nos how to do a ad campaign anymore

I think the saddest thing about Dior is to see that it has become what it was before Galliano. Galliano was a bit the Rise & Fall of Dior.
What was Dior before him: a successful luxury house with not that much influence. Marc Bohan was a good designer but we cannot say that he really had that much influence on fashion in the 30 years he did at Dior. Ferre was a great talent a did great things for Couture but it really never took off.

Galliano was the perfect match. It was tacky, loud, beautiful, flamboyant nd above all creative. And it's that creativity that helped Dior to be a 1 Billion fashion house.

Yes after years, it was a borehouse but LVMH was a bit afraid to let go their cash cow. He left and since then, it has been a disaster.

This campaign is a new low.
Dior today will make money no matter what. Their tacky "feminist t-shirt" is sold-out. It says a lot about the financial state of the house.

So why not take a chance on creativity? I get that creative people are hard to handle and Maria Grazia as a designer is maybe more business driven than someone like Raf but please make us dream!

This is like a corporate campaign. I refuse to believe that a designer decided to do this.
And the worst is that the clothes looks cheap. That taffetas looks like cheap nylon, the denim is atrocious!
It's cheap and the Gap campaign by Enninful is better than this. I'm tired of Dior.

This is the longest trouble/identity crisis i have ever seen. Almost a decade of seeing Dior fade...

Reminds me of those sterile editorials in Vogue Japan... can´t believe I´m saying this but bring back Willy! I like his sterile style better.

You don't know what you're talking about. The campaign might be boring and bland, but hasbeens. Actually they're not. Jing Wen, Ellen Rosa, Adwoa are the top models right now even though you might not like it that's the fact, not an opinion.
