Coach S/S 2023 New York

An utter travesty. There is nothing desirable or remotely original. All I can see is last spring's Prada jackets thrown into a garbage disposal.

Stuart Vevers used to release great runway clothing that was competitively priced and very well constructed. After 2020, it's been a deluge of Euphoria costumes and printed tees.

Such a shame –I used to pick up 1-3 jackets each fall and a always few of their sweaters every season. Coach Collection / Coach 1941 / Coach Runway / whatever they decided to update the catwalk name to every 2 years was at least dependable for these two categories. Sigh...

Cathy Horyn (rightfully) dismissed the collection:

Coach took over the Park Avenue Armory, where it erected a huge wooden platform in the center with the audience at some distance away on risers. Although Stuart Vevers, the creative director, was inspired by the idea of New Yorkers traveling in summer between the city and the Rockaway and Coney Island beaches, this didn’t quite come across. What’s more, the clothes seemed a bit sad and drab. Vevers said beforehand that he wanted to “strip back” things — to elemental leather jackets (some from reworked garments), shorts, and gingham baby-doll dresses. The leather jackets were terrific, but one longed for more color and, yes, more naked skin.

Many of the pieces would be great Fall separates but I dont see SS. The best part of this is how much Lil Nas looks like a legit model, what was the industry waiting for?

The one jacket with the turnlock closures and built in side bag referencing an original Bonnie Cashin design is AWESOME.

The rest can be burnt.

Getting the massive budget approved to pay his fees.

Oh I found out why it looks so much like Prada.

Olivier Rizzo!
