With only 20 years, the ex professional angelical dancer that shares her name with Mademoiselle Chanel, Coco Rocha, shines on campaigns, runways and on our cover.
The Other Coco.
That youthful charisma along with a marvelous face got the attention of a model scout during an Irish dancing competition in Canada. A few months later, Coco Rocha switched her dance academy to runways and her native Vancouver turned into new York. Even though fame didn't quite come before 2006, it came to her after her Vogue Italia cover by Steven Meisel. The girls that has been the face for Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana and is on our January cover admits that "he's the one that got me where I am today". (On her shoot for Vogue España) "It was a really fun shoot. It was done on the beach with wonderful flowery gowns and with the genius, Arthur Elgort. I was anxiously waiting to see the photos!" The new face for YSL's perfume Elle is also a very conscious role model, "I am very aware of the fact that the smaller ones need to be protected and that's why I collaborate with the Children's Aid Society and with the Irish Dance School". She uses the rest of her time with her mother, "She was a flight attendant and she traveled a lot so now I only want to be next to her".
Her idea of fashion is very mature even if she just turned 20, "I think that it's a way to show your personality". She loves combining clothes from her favorite designers such as Rag & Bone, Rodarte and Balenciaga with very special accesories or with high heels. "And I love vintage! My favorite treasure is a jacket from the 1800's!"
