Coco Rocha

Coco does so much blogging about herself, she maintains a website with so many pictures of herself, she tweets about herself (and everyone responds saying how great she is..)

...
Doesn't it all seem a little egotistical? Such a focus on oneself all the time? I can just see where models' and celebrities' egos can get out of control.

[Not trying to be too negative, it's just something I thought about with twitter, etc..]

Thoughts?

^ i definitely agree :) that's partially why, when coco started sort of branching out to more than just modelling, it peeved me just a little bit
that's because unlike in most models, in her case it seemed like she was doing it purely to feed her ego and feature herself in as many ways as possible, rather than as a passion

of course, i'm still a big fan of coco, with her being a local girl for me, so i don't mean to start a huge debate!

It's truly not about ego's. It's rather that that is often what a blog is. A personal story of one self. And when one has accomplished as much as she has, why not share it.

I see her blog as a celebration of her life. I actually like that she updates as much because it gives all a clear view of how "real" a life of a model that has made it to the top is.

Besides, Coco seems to want to make a career for herself in other places of media. Keeping one's name out there in the market is only a must. That's not egoistical but rather a smart choice.

I think she's still bitter that mdc took her on their list
she's still whining and posting some self appraisals from her blog

never liked her huge ego when she was at hear peak years ago

^ Please, that list only means something to the people who take it seriously. I hardly doubt models cry themselves to sleep when they're removed from it.

I think it's nice that Coco updates her blog and twitter a lot. That way, we are informed of her new work, if she has any, and we are able to connect with her quite personally. We can talk to her, ask her questions and tell her directly what we feel about her and her work. She's very participative and I like that. I honestly wish that all my favorite models would do the same thing, so we can connect with them because that's what we want, right? Posting photos of yourself and talking about yourself frequently may seem egotistical, yes. But it's her blog, her personal space, and she can do whatever the hell she wants to do with it. :)

Anyway, she has a little feature in Vogue's website, as seen here: http://www.vogue.com/voguepedia/Coco_Rocha

I think people are taking it too seriously. So, she blogs a lot, that's ok! I don't think it could be because she was taken of models.com list, it just doesn't make sense. Anyway, Coco seems nice and fun, and it's good that she stays connected with her fans through intenet.-

A: That models list is so corrupt, I mean c'mon?, Lara Stone as number 1?.

B: What about Coco wants to blog, and twitter, she's smart, it's all marketing, she's exposing herself out there, look at how much work she's still getting, and she still has time to do runway, and blog, we should be happy that such a popular model is blogging. Not a lot of them do, and it's not an ego...

^Except that models don't get work based on their fan base... and whether their fans are happy with their interaction with them... Models get jobs based on whether the fashion people and the fashion world likes them. So I don't think that her blog gets her work.

Also blogging seems to diminish the mystique a bit.. Kate Moss was famous partly for rarely doing interviews. The accessibility of celebrities and actresses via twitter etc. makes them seem less special somehow.

The more popular the model is, the more people would want to buy the products she is selling which in return would make the fashion people book the more popular model that actually sells!

I disagree. Coco is setting a president in the modeling world that hasnt been seen before, she's queen of social media as far as models go. I doubt anyone can name another girl who better uses twitter/facebook/blogging to reach out to promote her brand: COCO ROCHA. She is her own best PR. There was no social media in the early days of Kate Moss so its hard to say who would have embraced it 10, 20 years ago. But this is 2011 and this is what we do, Coco is just way ahead of the curve.

As far as Coco's blog being too much about her - what exactly is she supposed to write about? The weather in Texas? Demi Moores movie biography? Oprahs hair? I personally go on Coco's blog to find out what she's up to - wether its work, charity or personal. And thats exactly what I find when I do.

Yeah, and by bloggin and putting herself out there, she's getting more work and overall MORE FAME, she's smart by doing that, all models out there are marketing themselves. Plus, Coco Rocha gets a lot of work OUTSIDE of modeling thanks to the help of twitter, facebook, her blog...
