Has anyone else noticed that Donnatella Versace mostly ALWAYS puts Coco Rocha in black dresses for her shows...

^ oh man.. although coco looked gorgeous at giorgio armani.. i'm not liking this new facial expression on the runway! is it really necessary to either give your chin a silly looking tilt downwards, or open your mouth? i wish coco would just put a neutral expression on

haha well i think she's doing that "tilt downwards" to make her face look slimmer on the camera or perhaps to give the audience a fiercer look?
she's quite "well known" for always having her mouth open though?

Coco Rocha’s New Focus

Several months ago, the Canadian model Coco Rocha was trolling the personal technology blog Mashable, which is, apparently, something she does quite frequently with her artist husband, James Conran. “James and I are big electronic buffs and whenever we find out about new cool things, we’re like, ‘How can we get our hands on these things?”” Rocha said in a telephone interview.

The thing, in this case, was a high-tech camera still in its prototype stage. Developed by Lytro, a company based in Mountain View, Calif., the camera takes what the company calls a “living picture,” meaning that it captures enough visual information in a single exposure so that the focus and zoom can be adjusted even after the picture is taken. The company thinks this could be something of a paradigm shift when it comes to personal photography, especially because these dynamic photographs can be shared (without any additional software or plug-ins) on social networking sites like Facebook. Imagine you took snapshots at a party: no more wondering who that blurry lump is that passed out on the couch far behind your smiling friends; two clicks zooms in, one click sharpens the focus, and that person’s identity is revealed.

Rocha immediately saw how light-field cameras could be applied to fashion photography. “When I’m on set, they’re always trying to get me in focus. You can do a great picture and then you look at it and you’re like, ‘Uck! Too bad.’ You gotta do it again. This technology is beyond what we can probably comprehend. It’s like everything is in focus, always,” she said. “We right away asked them if I could be the first fashion photo shoot.”

Lytro, which was founded by Ren Ng, a Stanford computer science Ph.D., has some serious geek credentials, which did not necessarily prepare the company to photograph a supermodel. The task fell on Lytro’s director of photography, Eric Cheng, a noted underwater photographer (Sharks are one of his specialties.) “I usually feel like I’m stalking prey,” said Cheng, who flew to New York to photograph Rocha. “It was nice to have a willing subject.”

Rocha said that while she understands the value of static photographs, she doesn’t think they’re sacred. “Maybe an older model would be worried about losing the history of photography,” she said. “On my side, because I’ve evolved with these cameras and with this technology, it’s not the same. I love new things.” Indeed, the 23-year-old has a Tumblr account and a healthy presence on Facebook and Twitter. “Nowadays, it’s important to be on the cutting edge with social media, especially for models, because what do we have except pretty pictures?” she said. “Sometimes we need to have a voice and to show people that we’re willing to change if the industry is also willing to change.” Lytro said its light-field camera will be in stores before the end of the year.
