Codie Young

^ Looking forward to it!

Codie Young is a Rene Gruau artwork come to life in Dazed's space-themed June issue, a graphic figure between photography and illustration realised by make-up artist Yadim, styled by Karen Langley and photographed by Dan Jackson.

The face of Marc Jacobs' latest fragrance, Dot, the Australian model has walked for Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Rodarte, Giles , Band of Outsiders and Creatures of the Wind, as styled by Dazed's Emma Wyman. Dazed doubled up as Young completed this issue's Model Behaviour questionnaire and then dropped by the office, on a go-see, to talk on camera.

Dazed Digital: What five things would you take into outer space?
Codie Young: I guess it depends on how long I'm there – if it was a forever thing I would have different things I'd take. If I was there for a year:

1. Enough art supplies to last me a year.
2. A good friend.
3. A large stack of CDs.
4. An iPad with internet. But a really good connection otherwise the delay would be quite a lot due to the distance from earth! Skype conversations might not go so well. But email should work relatively well. Then I can keep in contact with my family and friends.
5.Finally, I'd say food/water in case it's not already included.

DD: Where on is your favourite place on earth?
Codie Young: It sounds a cliché but my home in Australia. I only get to go home twice a year and my family is so important, I love them so much. I love the beach town I'm from. There really isn't any place like your own home.

DD: How was the shoot with Yadim, Karen Langley and Dan Jackson?
Codie Young: This was a really great shoot. I can't wait for the pictures to come out. It was inspired by an artist, René Gruau, so all the shots are very strong and graphic. The way our faces look like paintings and how it flows into our bodies, is really incredible. I think it will stimulate people's minds, it's pretty amazing.

DD: What's been the greatest thing that's happened to you since you started modelling?
Codie Young: The greatest thing would have to be becoming the face of Marc Jacobs' new fragrance, Dot. I feel so honoured to have been chosen to represent the brand and I'm really proud of this campaign. We shot in the Maldives, which was just incredible, such a beautiful place. I got a bit of time off while we were there so I got to go snorkeling and do things like that which was so much fun. I highly recommend going there for anyone who wants a beautiful island holiday.

DD: Tell us something we wouldn't expect of you...
Codie Young: Hmm. A few might know this already but I'm a painter. I love painting, I could paint all day and never be bored. It's a great way to get rid of stress. Because you put all your emotions and things that you're feeling into your pieces. I'm quite an introverted person. I spend a lot of time by myself because I enjoy being on my own.

Such an interesting yet down to Earth girl. I'm happy she seems to be doing well career wise, and I love how grateful she is for the Marc Jacobs campaign

She's really doing amazingly, and i guess the MJ fragrance will just give her career an extra push. Looking forward to Lula Magazine, Dazed Confused looks lovely and has a lovely casting.

^Oh my... how beautiful :crush: Couldn't imagine anyone more perfect for this story than Codie. Love it.

I flew to LA on Monday. When I got in I drove 3 hours to location at a place called Madonna in (half way between LA and San Francisco). Slept 5 hours then shot from 5am-230pm drove 3 hours back to airport 10hour flight back to London. Once I got back to London went to studio and was shooting again! So was a busy and exhausting couple of days.

Ps. I'm currently in Barcelona. I shoot here on Monday and Tuesday

Busy anyone? :woot: from codie-young.blogspot
