one pound clothes?
where????????????????????????????????

"... I’d be happy to shop there, especially if ... it has a big banner over the door that reads: “Everything in store £1 or less.”

This was the writer's wishful thinking...

I am just wondering why this article is so negative about the GS concept. It's not about purchasing TV sets which you might want to return, because they are not working. Oldfashioned, conservative view, imo...

Huh, lots of people dont understand the G philosohpy and they against it, but in any way we have to respect them.

1pound!! WOW!! I wish!!

"Guerrilla retailing is, we discovered last week, the future of fashion, and now it’s coming to Scotland"

-they should be very happy abput that i think...or?

"The idea is that a fashion business sets up quickly in some run-down premises and sells cool couture for a short while to the few beautiful people in the know"

-does everything stay forever at the same place?
-does everything been fake chic clean interior style?
-does verything look like the same always?

"And then the shop vanishes, leaving everybody involved feeling terribly smug and ever so cutting-edge"

-i think too they leave people a little bit sad...but very curious!;)

yes i love polkadots, for me is like the same, i found the text a little bit strange ...
i thought in Scotland this guerrilla feeling was still present...but it seems it
doesn´t...
anyway, i wish this 1 pound clothes...:P ja ja!
and i am waiting for the next stores! (even if i did not see yet
in the web page the name "berlin" )

^ I think you have just to clear your browswer's temp folder:-)

ARE they cheaper ??!!!!:ninja:

No, the acc, parfums and recent collections are not cheaper:-))

Previous colls are. But not always. I saw some H+ and JW pieces, which were quite expensive indeed.

I wondering if the author is writing for 1 pound an article:-P

Ppl usually think that old walls -> used clothes. Same ppl might say that minimal is pretencious bc there are no clothes in a boutique. I can't stand mountains of clothes elsewhere:-P. It's just diff kind of shopping. We should concentrate on clothes, but I also think one should enjoy the shopping itself, well if one can:-P

if they want clothes with 1p then they shall go to ZARA and even there they will not find something with 1p!! :)

I went to the Glasgow store at the weekend. It really is in the most unlikely location imaginable. And absolutely no external branding. I was literally standing in the correct street but could not find it and had to phone them (it was about 50 yards away!) There is a motor vehicle workshop right outside the door. It is simply impossible for anyone to go there who doesn't know about it.

Store space is quite interesting.........best thing is that there is a MASSIVE vintage Bentley on the shop floor, which has been painted in multi-coloured oversized Paisley pattern. It looks amazing!

The clothes are quite nice, some interesting older pieces, oldest I think was from summer 2000 (circle and leaf prints in bright colours - bet you love that collection Nqth!). I thought the "old" prices were OK. I almost bought a pair of HP trousers from AW 2002 (I think), which were black but were double faced in blue at the front, with a blue seam coming through onteh front creas, and double faced in yellow tartan at the back!!

Staff aren't particularly knowledgeable about CDG, but they're v nice.

Nothing for a pound.....

Oh wow, thanks for the report Johnny:-)

So it is quite like the Warsaw GI. People went around sereval times before they found the place:-)

I think it might be the ss2001 Johnny. It is one of a more impresive collections (I think I saw a pic of sir Elton John wore an apple jkt:-)))

I love the Ts with small print from that coll (edit:they are from SS2002), the jkt with sequin zipper and with belt across the front! and the chess board, too.

Johnny, the AW 2002 is my all time fav:-) It was the orange buttons collection. I love the circles prints, tartan and "weird" fabrics!

G perfumes

from:
http://beta.jcreport.com/12240

Comme des Garçons has lately been setting down un-prettified, one-year-only, guerilla stores in off-the-beaten-path locations in cities around the globe (one outpost is in the pillar of a Warsaw bridge). The new practice defies the industry standard for selling goods in architecturally splendid emporiums — a concept pioneered in the '90s. Now, the label has transposed this "guerilla spirit" into a line of fragrances set to launch later this spring.

Despite the enticing initial whiff of the aptly named Guerilla 1 and Guerilla 2 perfumes, it's the label's high-concept packaging that first fully captures the attention. Inspired by the temporary pop-up stores, the androgynous scents' sleek, rectangular bottles are boxed along with a set of six artistically offbeat mock papier-mâchè canteens. Were it not for their red or black colors, they might be mistaken for miniature Matthew Barney sculptures.

For the premier fragrances from this "new series of perfumes based on the world of Comme des Garçons," the brand concocted a complex set of scents. The "strong rebel perfumes" are grounded in damp, earthy tonalities of vetiver and cedarwood, intensified by the carnal hint of musk; but the hybrid of piquant and exotic aromas is what distinguishes the perfumes from one another. Guerilla 1 enthusiastically pops with the smell of saffron and cloves, then quickly settles into an intoxicating dialogue between the sweetness of the champaca flower and the boldness of black pepper. Guerilla 2 parries with a zesty combination of pink pepper, ginger, and bergamot, then meanders into the brazen odors of red pepper and curcuma, mixed with the delicate aromas of a raspberry and tuberose bouquet.

Rebels, like the Comme des Garçons' mastermind Rei Kawakubo, have distinct and cultivated physical identities; but with the arrival of Guerilla 1 and 2, to be a revolutionary, one no longer has to look the part — for $98, one can simply smell the part.

did they have music?

Yes, but I can't remember what it was. There were DJ decks out too although they wern't being used.
No pics I'm afraid, sorry.

Nqth, I didn't like that collection at the time, but like it very much now. Some of the details are amazing. Those trousers were really beautiful.........the contruction was amazing; they felt really heavy becuase of the double facing. I like the brown buttons too.
