Cosmic Wonder, F/W '05-'06

Dare say.. hmmm this must be my fave cosmic wonder collection ever..
reminds me -a lot- of Raf's fave moments -which doesnt make it the most 'original' collection around- still, its free of C.W's tired 'victimized' 80s trip and this comes as a much welcome developement.

also like the installation, very 'nomad' inspired, very spiritual in mood.. this guy seems like 'going back to his roots' -or he's been heavily influenced by current trend forecasting books- either way, doesnt hurt him a bit, CW is comming to age

thanks for the topic and the pictures cerfas :flower:

mine too...everything about it is just perfect :crush:

I don't get this! I see the nomadic thing, but it looks too literal. It's a bit costume-y; I can't see how you could actually wear this (I seem to remember being put right on this by Scott before!). I haven't seen it in person so there may be more to it, but it seems too precious, too "artsy" for me. I agree with the comment about it looking like a grad presentation. Where can you buy CW in Europe/UK?

You're very welcome, Lena
Cosmic Wonder is actually a duo, I don't know their names, but it is a man and a woman.

Johnny, I feel your puzzlement. CW doesn't appeal to everyone. It has the feeling of an art project, but that is something that does not bother me, being an artist myself. And I am sympathetic to and familiar with a lot of other designers/duos that do similar things (installations, performances, clothesmaking, object making)
Another ex: Feral Childe (tho the documentation on their site is poor)

Thanks cerfas. It doesn't bother me as such that it's arty, I just find it difficult to imagine the clothes in a "real" setting. It's very much like and art project, and interesting as such. I'd like to see the clothes up close.

I can only imagine them in a real setting because there are some very strange people who like to wear very strange clothing. I think I know at least one person who would venture out fully outfitted in CW...but surely not every day.
I wonder what they look like up close too; I also wonder how they mix in with other garments. Runner once posted some photos of individual CW pieces that seemed really lovely and actually wearable, although that's something that I did not expect.

Well, the designer is Yukinori Maeda. The young lady I believe you're referring to is his business partner. I don't know her name from the top of my head. It's like Jutta Kraus is Bernhard's business partner but she takes care of the backbone of the business. The finances, the orders etc. That's what I think she does.

Johnny,I think Pineal Eye and Kokon to Zai carries CW,but I'm not entirely sure. They'd be the best places to check though.

Ta Scott. Those would appear to be the most likely, from what I can see of CW and what I have seen of (at least the Pineal Eye). I will be in Londres in a couple of weeks - will check then

i could easily wear this coat.. (minus the ethnik trousers wrap/legwarmers)
and possibly the handmade heavy knitwear look of that girl sitting down under a 'tent-pyramid'
yes kookon or even maria luisa accessories must be stocking CW
i think i've also seen them in Browns focus (not sure)

cerfas, have you credited the pictures? :P

I totally agree

Oh me too,Lena. That coat and the one with the hood are the best.

Somehow I kind of enjoy the bandage-wraps around the legs :ninja: Makes me think of a pair CCP trousers I saw in a mag a long time ago.

Johnny,if neither of those work out and you happen to embark on a trip to Antwerpen,Walter carries CW as well. And there's also a Viennese shop called Song that has his stuff too. Actually,I think alot of his work is catching on in Europe in the way of buyers. And it's beginning to recieve in the U.S. with Seven and this new shop called Gigantic Brand. His work has always garnered alot of press as he's such a unique vision and style..but appears to be getting in the shops these days.

Oh...I think Colette sells CW too!

I love the bandage wraps, too
Lena, I credited the pictures in the very first post that began this thread.
And Scott, thanks for the information and the clarification. Sort of like Christo and Jean Claude. :>

You're welcome cerfas.

Going back to the presentation bit. Whilst I still think it's not his greatest, the whole thing is beginning to make sense. The nomadic,Mad Max style with this desolate atmosphere. It's like it's referencing that "Dune" desert feel.

ooops must have been my blind day.. excuses cerfas :ninja:

I think it is very lovely. But I must say the models look bored. But the clothes are VERY nice! Thanks!

Scott--I feel what you're saying about the Dune vibe.
They always look kind of like futuristic hippies too
