Yes, it does look simple and similar to last season but you have to admire them for always working with jersey and trying to be innovative and wearable. Here is British Vogue's review:

NEW YORK is now host to as many, if not more, new names and rising talent than London - which is food for thought. One of the newest and hottest tips is designer Costello Tagliapietra who has been nominated, in the space of a very short career, for awards including the influential CFDA new design bursary. Though only 24 looks long, shown in a downtown art space with pine floor and wide flat runway, Tagiapietra showed a focused collection of wearable clothes notable as much for his innovative ways of cutting. Opening with a raw rusty jersey dress that was draped with a turtleneck and styled with a raccoon fur hat, his style was to combine slouchy and slinky. Slicked-back ponytails and bright orange lips: wrap dresses were tied at the back, slashed up the leg or down the back - the looks very simple yet chic. Silvery matte greys to sky blues took on twists of fabric that gathered and tied to make a sexy New Yorker silhouette that had that mix of boho art collector goes SoHo. (February 7 2006, PM)

Hey I have posted some pics of garments that i have designed on the Julian Roberts Nothing Nothing thread. As u r lovers of fashion i wud really be grateful 4 ur reaction to them. The pics are on the bottom of page 10 of the thread.
Thanx

Meh ... "boring" seems to be the most popular tFS epithet, but it certainly applies here.

I wish this influx of new talent would have some kind of 'wow' factor. I'm not saying simplicity and minimalism is bad butthis just looks like no thought was put into it at all. Too much of a no brainer.

Yes, simple clothes can be fresh but this lacks the edge they especially need in order for their talents and skills to be noticed. It's difficult to spot a difference between this and their past collections. A move forward would be nice...you only need so many nicely draped jersey dresses.

love this.. totally wearable and timeless, great collection.
my only problem is the season reversal, this looks too spring honestly

thanks for the thread and the pics :flower:

he is my new halston...its even ok that it is somewhat like his spring collection(actually that is the only problem) other than i love it. im in love with the cuts and silohettes. preferred spring to autumn tho but still love costello jersey dresses.

ok . . . so it's not really innovative / exciting
but like lena said it's wearable . . timeless maybe ?
sometimes tht's hard to create . . . & there's alot here tht's really solid imo . .
consistency is gd sometimes . . ;)

Costello is good at making very minimalistic clothing... ...but over the time, you almost feel like they're showing the SAME thing all the time... ...it's def not bad.. ...but time to bring in something new or we're all falling asleep.

It is a very boring collection!! *YAWN* I've seen this last year it seems.....

review from wwd

Costello Tagliapietra: Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra's fall collection had the crucial three S's that have become their mainstay — slim, sexy and sophisticated — and that, in itself, was a testament to their confidence. With zero adornment but for a few luxurious CT for Saga Furs, they let the clothes and their impeccable tailoring do the talking. The designers stuck to their choice fabric for fall, wool jersey, in a palette of browns, cool blues and greens that complemented the mostly mock or cowl necklines, bare backs and knee-skimming skirts. What was new this time around were the cool velvet shawl-collar coats and the pleated straight-leg trousers. Add a gown or two and the hard-to-please modern woman's got herself a wardrobe.

Love their work! But it is same old same old.... Getting bored, actually.

you know..i ws oohing and aahing over their collection last season, and this time i just can't put my finger on it, but something is missing...

...i see newer designers took a progression this season..doo ri chung for example..hers wasn't very successful imo, but kudos to her for taking a risk..

i still think this collection is very very strong. fist of all, i like to compare it to the rest on new york fashion week:innocent: . also, they have pants, coats, more variety..which is nice! and the fur didn't look that out of place either. i thought it would.

and it's incredible, their jersey dresses are so timeless!:flower:
