WITH the couture shows set to begin on July 6, the fashion world is alight with gossip about who will show where, if at all. While Versace and Emanuel Ungaro will continue to shun the expense of full-on couture collections, Giorgio Armani is planning to return to the schedule with his second luxurious Privι collection. The one American couturier, Ralph Rucci, has decided to forfeit his place on the calendar in favour of showing off his latest designs at the same time as his spring/summer 2006 ready-to-wear collection in New York in September, meanwhile. Having skipped Couture Week in January after the recent death of his mother, Rucci has decided that his new Broadway showroom is the best place to unveil this season's new pieces. "He thought it would be beautiful to do a show and welcome people to the new showroom," a spokeswoman told WWD. "He intends to go back to Paris." (June 21 2005, AM)

interesting......i'm still disappointed Ungaro is not showing.....

yes Ungaro's new designer deserves a debut chance in couture

Yes, I agree, he definetly should. Plus, Givenchy is showing too...Am I wrong here, or did we miss Givenchy for a couple of seasons?

Yes Givenchy is finally showing after the absence of a designer for the past 2 seasons.

This is the schedule of Couture Week. It seems to be dwindling further this season.

oh, great. i love givenchy, i might be the only one to think that Macdonald didn't do such a bad job at the house.

I agree, but unfortunately they got a new designer. Julien Macdonald left Givenchy.

Most of the time it was horrificly tasteless and trashy, but sometimes it was actually quite good. He did have great bags and shoes, but the clothes were trash.

Im so excited for Givenchy, Dior, Chanel, Gaultier and Scherrer. Where can I see pics from Adeline Andre and other Couturiers?

^hm, i think firstview.com and gettyimages.com have all couture shows....

Hoping for interesting work from AVH and Gaultier, maybe Givenchy since their last rtw collection was wonderful.

No Ralph Rucci until September, dang!

But still looking forward to the (remaining) couturiers.

I'm very exited to see what Riccardo Tisci:heart: will do at Givenchy.

Also exited to see Felipe Oliviera Baptista and Anne Valerie Hash.

I have to be honest : couture shows aren't as exciting to me as ready to wear....

Neither have Adeline Andre or Baptista...

It's the same for me, I have never seen a couture show that caters to anybody but the very rich, not a surprise though.

yeah, i dont know who else would be able to afford a dress that costs as much as some people's yearly salariesB)

i like couture... its the last flight of fashion as an art form... its like a mgaical costume party ^_^

i dont see stephanie coudert there...i really enjoyed her designs

Firstview hasn't done couture for a few years now...

Who is doing Givencht though? I missed that whole story of the return of Givenchy.
Plus, I am most looking forwards to Valentino (my fave collection last season and, of course, to Dior!

Oh and I have updated the schedule in the tFS Events Calendar yesterday, for those that are interested :flower:

Shucks, no Ralph Rucci. Oh well at least we still see the clothes during R-T-W.
